yeah. it's still on their site.
but the product is not longer made.

and yes.
the X5 is easily the best FLAC player i've heard.
mine does not hiss with my ultra-sensitive um2

I was wondering, is there a portable dvd player that decodes Flac files? I'm asking because I'm backing up my Flac music files on to dvd instead of cd to store more. Would be nice to play those files back not from a computer.

That may be difficult, since I haven't seen any portable DVD music players at all, let alone ones that decode flac. I think that since you can get 16GB SD cards now, and flash players are getting increasingly affordable, the need for portable CD/DVD players has become almost nonexistent.

Wow, no one mentioned the Teclast Players. I've owned a 2gb C280 for about 6 months and highly recommend it. Got it for $90 shipped from Hong Kong. Latest firmware supports FLAC, as well as Flash Video (WMA, MP3 and AVI too, of course) Burr Brown DAC is standard too!

Well, I suppose if you're a packrat, then 2GB won't be enough.

Got my 1st gen Nano Rockboxed and all is well. 4GB just isnt enough space for a bunch of Flac files though. I like the looks of the D2 as it can be had with 8gb onboard and you can add a SDHC card for a total of 24gb. Not crazy about the touch screen but until something else comes out that one has my vote. Iaudio 7 would be 2nd place.

I've been using the same thing recently for my flac files. Not happy with the tiny screen and fonts, but it's ok. I think the slim factor is the best part to carry around. I still prefer a native device. Too bad that other one is only 2GB. Maybe the best thing that would come out tomorrow from Macworld is the flac/ogg codecs in ipods!

What's the point of all these 2GB, 4GB and 8GB players for lossless audio? For lossy I can understand, but seriously I need more space. Anything that is at least 80GB?

I've got a 4th gen rockboxed and a 5.5th gen (80gb) rockboxed, and yes, if you plan on having your entire collection in flac (which i'm trying to do), you better have at least 40gb. My only beef is the fact that right now with the latest daily build of rockbox for the 5.5 gen model ipods, you either have to choose not many "wow" features, or go with the basic features. So, if you want album art resizing, as well as FF/RWD scrub features, among others, you have to go with an unsupported build, and for me, i have song skipping issues with unsupported builds (that i can tell). Long story short, it's a trade off to get a decent/usable interface for your DAP + FLAC/OGG support. Also, the 5.5gen ipods when rockboxed just seem so much more sluggish in comparison to my 4th gen rockboxed. I would love to just use my 20gig 4th gen, but 20 gig just is too small for a nearly all FLAC/OGG media library. Anyway, I had considered selling my 5.5th gen on ebay and getting a 20gb X5L and upgrading the hd to 80 gig or some such. I may look into just upgrading the 4th gen ipod. Anyway, sorry to hijack and ramble, was mostly just wanting to put my input in regards to rockbox and ipods.

Let's keep this thread going, it can definitely be useful for others.

It's got to be the Cowon (pick your model). There just isn't a lot out there right now. I just had to transcode 350GB of FLACs to Apple Lossless because I can't afford a new player right now, and I needed to stick with the iPod for now.

If it were up to me, I'd go with the A3 or Q5.
