It's probably the same boards inside, then. Of course, it's double the price of the Headbox II.

Ok so I got the amp today and so far I am impressed for the price! It hasn't even broken-in yet and it sounds awesome!

However, this amp has no power switch, so is it really safe for me to leave it plugged in 24/7/365? I know this is a tired topic, but just want to confirm for my sanity's sake. Thanks guys.

Congrats, and good luck with your Headbox. The price is certainly attractive, and it looks like a decent first amp in terms of build quality, measurements, and modding potential.

I leave my amp on all the time. It's not using any power (except stanby) if it is not actually driving any headphones or speakers. Just turn it off if you go out of town for a while.

I tried a Project Headbox 2 connected to the pre-out sockets of a Cambridge Audio A5 amp, so I was also able to use the bass & treble knobs on the amp (shock horror!). With this advantage the P.H.2 was quite impressive, but not as good as a much cheaper BTech BT 911 speakers switching box with a headphone socket on the front! (only £35). I found the P.H.2 was no good for high impedance Beyer Dynamic DT 880's as you had to turn it's vol to 3.15 on the clockface. Became generally dissatisfied with P.H.2 in the end and it's now back in the box unused. The best headphone amp I use at home is the Stax SRD6SB which I have with Stax SR Gamma's. Still going strong, bought 1992.

It's safe really; been doing this since 1996! Cheapest sound quality upgrade I ever made. 24/7/365
