Justin has hinted that he'll be releasing some new, updated amps in 2008. For all I know, the base KGSS model will be offered as in an upgraded, face-lifted form priced under $2k. Maybe there will be a cheaper "lite version"?

Ok, now I am following.
Would be great to see a face-lifted KGSS, since I think the current chassis is plain ugly. A cheaper lite version would be nice as well, for those with limited budget.

I know he's working on the KGBH SE and plan to build the KGST (whatever that is). I have heard nothing of the KGSS, but I hope you are right.

This year, Better amps will come out, and there will be no cheap amp left..
old amps only in used market.
After ten years, There may be only expensive and good amp left.

Fine for me, as long as the amplifiers sound great and are well built.

The last 12 months I have been looking for the "perfect" amplifier for me, with no luck so far. Hopefully it will be released in 2008...

Headamp has been moving away from it's DIYFS roots to become a more established manufacturer and that does require a higher price tag but the build quality goes up as well so I'm not complaining.

Yes, the new amps are getting to be pretty expensive while many old great sounding amps will soon be forgotten. There might be some improvement in highend electrostats amplifier but I doubt that highend amplifiers for dynamic headphones will see much improvement.

You know that amps are improving.
But how about receivers?
HE60,HE90, sr-omega, sr-007, koss products; Are they the last receivers in the world? no more???
Only stax is launching their new sr series without big improvement.
Why we have to seek such an old and used headphones like HE60 or HE90?
I want headphone companies to resume releasing their upgrade electrostatic receivers!!!!

Can't go wrong with SR-007 ?

There is no one headphone for everybody but on pure performance grounds no headphone can come close to the SR-007. The SR-Omega is close but still one level down as the bass isn't as controlled and deep, there is some slight residual brightness, the soundstage isn't as precise etc.

Agreed.

I wish that I have my O2 rig, foo_me's K1000 rig and an Orpheus rig side by side for a month. That would end my search for the high-end systems.
