So it's not unusual for me to take a break in the middle of the movie and then finish it a bit later in the day, especially if I start it later at night and get tired. With this one, I was wide awake when I started it on Thursday night, but was so damn exhausted after the first hour that I had to wait until Friday to finish it. Day 2 was much smoother, cause shortly before the midway point of the movie I had a pretty good grasp on the structure of it. In the end I felt it was a very creative, beautifully shot (save for the makeup), and emotionally moving film. I can't say I loved it, but it did affect me, and that says a lot. I need to spend a little while pondering all the relationships among the stories, because I'm almost thinking that I am looking for more than what was actually there. I may be wrong about that, but I'll hopefully be able to process things a bit in the coming days. I'll also probably read some other reviews to test against my own impressions.

"Cloud Atlas" - 8.4/10

Scored 150, I hit on every Hitchcock film.  I was nearly a 100% on Westerns, Sci-Fi, and Horror, and Comedies. Weak on Foreign films and Romance.
What's weird is I have several of these films laying around but have yet to see them-Million Dollar Baby, Life of Pi, Django Unchained, Shutter Island, and Reservoir Dogs. My only excuse is I'm spending too much time listening to audio.

175 here, but haven't seen all the Hitchcock films. I remember liking Rope because, if memory serves me correctly, the whole movie is one continuous shot with zero edits. Lots of crap on that list, though - Pirates of the Caribbean.

End of Watch : 10/10. I cried a bit at the end. I rate it so highly because I was completely immersed in the movie, and the character relationships. It's a beautiful example of friendship.

Mud: 7.5/10

Oblivion: 9/10. Brilliant movie. I also almost shed a solitary tear at the end.

Hangover 3: 6.5/10

The Big Lebowski: 7.5/10

The Raid Redemption: 8/10

Eddie Murphy: Raw: 6.5/10. DEFINITELY not nearly as good as Delirious. I don't understand why people would even compare the two.

American History X: 7.5/10. I enjoyed it, but it felt too much like a 90s movie.

For Vwinter:

Yes!!! Keep watching The Walking Dead. I started watching it last month, and got through all 3 seasons within a week. I actually watched  the third season within 36 hours. It gets increasingly awesome all the way to that terribad third season finale.

Bah! I was hoping that would't be the case. So many hours of show lol. I'll give it 2 more episodes. I can't watch two seasons just to get to a third lol.

Also, damnit, I knew oblivion would be cool as you all have made clear. I'll see if its still playing around me.

See District 9. It´s more directly related to racism and apartheid.

I give it an 8/10. Solid though I wish it would engage more. I was never bored with it though. To me it made Elysium feel more prison camp than paradise.

I've already seen District 9.

2 GUNS (2013) 6.8/10

A lighthearted action/comedy with a decent rapport between Wahlberg and Washington.

Plenty of one liners:
Quit playing the stupid card.
I really meant to love you. (what does that even mean?)
Tell your mother she's gotta move outta my house at some point, man.
Nobody's innocent man, there's just the guilty, the ignorant and the unlucky.
Greatest country in the world, cuz we accept what a man is at his core: greedy, selfish and covetous.

Anomalies:
Stake out a drug kingpins house with a vintage Dodge Challenger- it won't stand out.
Rob a bank with a vintage Ford Bronco for a get away, no one will notice.

Ahh, the movies.

Regaurding the movie viewing score thing. 144/251. HOWEVER, I feel more than a few of those movies need not be on the list.

Andrei Rublev ( 1966)

Director: Andrei Tarkovsky

Andrei Rublev is my first Tarkovsky's film I decided to watch. I have to blame Sergei Loznitsa who has brought my interest into Russian art-house recently.

Holy Cow! That was a movie with such an insane director's ambition and dedication as if he ( Tarkovsky) was going to die after it. How could this be even shot in the Soviet Union? I was being kind of worried recently feeling that mainstream cinema was becoming more powerful in creating virtual reality. It splits our consciousness so that we get driven away from our real self into the imaginary world. But there is a very small niche in cinema and literature which brings you back to the core of your consciousness, to the source of your being. I would say that watching Andrei Rublev is almost like a religious experience.

On the other hand despite tremendous psychological intensity of the movie it not easy to say what is the message of it. The reason of it is that there are three directions of thought interconnected: dilemma of faith in Christianity, unhappy fate of Russia and Tarkovsky's own vision of what is art which also includes fate of Russia and questions of faith.

There were a lot of odd movie picks on that list.  Classics mixed in with recent "hits" that will never be classics.  "Pirates of the Caribbean" ?
