L3000 - Way Overrated?

I actually really like the L3000s for vocals, both male and female. They just have something that no other phone I've tried can replicate. A kind of in-your-face sound like Grados but without being screechy like some of those are. I think another one of their fortes is their imaging: their soundstage isn't that big but the way the sound moves around can really easily be tracked.
Actually, I think that people who like the Grado sound but are looking for something better, and also have a deep wallet could consider this thing.

It also doesn't kill your ears with the horrible earpads the Grados have. :)

This matches my impressions of the L3000 when I tried a pair for a bit.  Probably the best bass of the AT headphones I've listened to, with great low end extension without being boomy like I find some of the Denons have.  It's not as musical through the mid range but still has some of the AT magic, while not having as much of a rolled off treble like some other AT headphones.  That might be a plus for those who don't like the mid range color that the W1000X or W3000ANV may have in some people's opinion.

You know I like what I hear about the L3000, I modded my W1000x quiete a bit [which removed a good portion of that romanic color and mid decay]  and what I have in my cheaop W1000x, I see is present and most likely perfected in the L3000,

*sigh* I really need to hear these some day... maybe sell a kidney

Yup...that how I hear my L3000 as well.  Need to revisit my L3000 again soon.

Sounds good, still got that DHA3000?

I always wanted to get one of those since they aren't that expensive relatively, but they are pretty heavy so shipping from Japan would add a good chunk to that.
But if someone could find one close to them it could be a relatively cheap solution.

Yes, still have the DHA3000.  It an incredible amp that work especially great with CIEMs.  My JH13pro sounds wonderful with it.  The price of the DHA3000 has gone up recently in Japan.  They are fetching close to 200,000 yen again in Japan.

I know of a DHA-3000 up for sale but it's together with an L3000, from Thailand and no feedback, member of HF since 08 but only 12 posts.

Since I'm only after the L3000 and that one has no box I didn't go for it. Tempting though.
Also, the cable is nicely tucked away under the amp which makes me wary.
