nice pics! how many secs?

anyways, the 5u4g are great for impact and drive but not the best for
subtlety and grain-free mids...if large soundstage and resolution is your
thing, go look into a 5r4gy...if mid-bloom tube sound is your thing, go
for the gz32/5v4g...the 5as4/5u4gb are good and cheap alternatives to
the 5u4g for impact and dynamics, especially if you use the 6ew7 drive
tubes...

most important to know is that each tube requires some burn in time to
sound its best...two to three hrs. of burn in can do wonders in terms
of SQ...have fun!

Most of the pics are 20-30 seconds to get that nice glow. I've played some tricks with lighting to get varied effects.

Nice pics and beautiful amp - do you know if those GE 6DE7's make much difference to the sound compared to stock?

I've not fooled around much with the drivers yet.

So I'm sitting here going back and forth between the WA6 and my GS1 (I love the GS1 for it's Loop out!).

They're pretty darn close, but the GS1 seems to have the edge in headspace and detail (I expected this).

So what do you think would close the gap, or even better, make the Woo surpass the GS1? better tubes? Woo Cap mods? Fairy Dust? All three?

I have to say I'm impressed with the sound. I'm not blown away, but I didn't expect to be. There's a bit of... experience using a tube amp though.

Send it back to Woo for the recent upgrades that he is doing with them. There are a couple of people around here that have the Woo6 with the upgrades.

Yes, you will need the V caps and Black Gates and then you will hear some real changes.

There is no stock 6DE7. Woo supplies whatever they have available. This tube has not been manufactured in decades. All the 6DE7 tubes are new old stock and hence on equal footing. The 6DE7 one prefers will be chosen from GE/ RCA / Raytheon / Tung Sol or Sylvania.

Any rebrands like the Westinghouse brand I received will still be from one of those manufacturers. The 6DE7 Raytheons I bought look exactly like the 6DE7 Tung Sol's I bought. So one of these two .... Raytheon or TS .... probably didnt even make the 6DE7 tube and purchased the tube from other manufacturers and rebranded them.

The other nice tube was made by Marconi of Canada. It has a different tip on the top of the glass and most often is from the late 1950's and early 1960's. I have found them to be the best sound for me but they are not easy to find. They are also rebranded as Westinghouse Canada.
