Thanks Andrew, nice to talk to a business with such good customer support. Had a lovely email waiting in my inbox when I arrived home.

Still a shame about being unable to bag any but looking forward to any updates.
Thanks again

Hey,... how many of you guys are still waiting on a delivery of iM-390's from Buy.com? They've been out of stock for over a week now. Are any of you getting your orders filled from other on-line vendors? Or is my long wait shared by others using whatever on-line vendor? Think I'll check the three vendors recommended by Maximo on their website,... see if they're also out of stock!

ericpd, Sorry, it seems the Buy.com promo blew through all the inventory we could get to the distributor that Buy uses (as well as many other retailers). Based on our ETA, it could be another 10-14 days before Buy has them to ship. However, we will honor the rebate submissions for anyone who purchased on time but didn't get their order shipped right away. Nobody (Buy or us or the distributor) expected the program to do nearly so well (otherwise we wouldn't do it, and Buy probably wouldn't allow it either). Definitely none of the parties involved want to be anything less than above-the-board.

If you do want something sooner rather than later, there should be some resellers listed on our site that have them in stock. But I can't vouch if they'll be "old" or "new".

Nah,... I'm in no hurry Andrew. I'll stick with you and Buy.com and patiently wait. I have the old version here,... they'll service me until Buy gets their hands on the newer version. Actually, my real concern has to do with proof of purchase material. In order to qualify and meet all the rebate requirements, I will need to send in originals of the sale receipt AND the packaging with the UPC code printed on it. I just didn't want that to interfer with me providing 'proof-of-purchase' to you when taking you up on your offer to exchange 'old for new' with the members here! Like I said before, the "old to new" exchange offer is of more value to me than the $11.00 rebate. So I was just asking for advice relating to that only. Just didn't want to send off documentation you required in a quest for a rebate.

Sorry I didn't update on the upgrade program. Hopefully no hurry for that either, since we don't have any here on hand to send out. Again, we should have them next week.

As far as the rebate, go ahead and submit it now if you have the required items. We're doing it internally, so we'll have you on record (and you'll get a confirmation email) when we get your submission. So if needed, we'll have that info available to refer to.

Great,... thanks Andrew. I'll send the required proof-of-purchase items off tonite. Wish you guys made cars and clothes dryers. Chrysler and GE could learn alot from Maximo! Again,... I'm in no hurry to receive the 2nd pair. Actually, by there being a "back order" I'm even more confident I'll be receiving the new version for my 2nd purchase. And if the new version is better than the original version,... well hell I probably would have bought two anyway! LOL!

I ordered mine on 9/13 from buy.com and they were shipped on 9/14, I got them yesterday. It does have the M on the back which means it is the old version. As per Andrew's note on here I am going to go ahead and send my mail in rebate tomorrow and wait for the "old to new" exchange.

Thanks Andrew for the wonderful customer service !!! I have friends waiting for my review to order their pairs, I have asked them to wait till I get the new ones. Also another question, does anybody know if maximo sell these directly from their Vancouver location, I am sure my friends will be interested to pick them up directly than wait for buy.com.

The more I listen to these, the more I really appreciate them. They are quite nice, definitely worth the money. I really like the fact they do sound quite good unamped, or even from mp3 players with low headphone output. There is one thing I question, does anyone else notice that these have very little isolation? Less than any other IEM or canalphone I have ever tried. I haven't tried changing tips yet, but the supplied ones seem to be a little different than others I have used. The medium size is definitely smaller than most mediums, and the material seems a little different. Is it the tips or maybe the vent? I don't know. Any ideas?

My guess is that the general lack of isolation is because the stock silicone tips can't go as deep into the ear canal as compared to other canal phones. However, I get great isolation from them with my Shure E2 foamies.

Since isolation is much better, bass becomes more prevalent & the overall sonic presentaton becomes clearer to me IMHO. Although YMMV, none of these changes is anything a little EQing couldn't fix to your own personal taste, should you not like some of the initial effects. Swapping tips is fun...kind of like pad swapping on Grados. For me, the increase in isolation is well worth it. Otherwise, I'd be better off just using my KSC75s!

Someone else mentioned something about some red tips from ebay, way early in this thread. Said that the sound improved dramatically. For me, I found an improvement when I switched from the tips that the iM-390's shipped with to the largest ones. I've also noticed that with my right ear, if I move too much, it'll start loosing it's grip and I have to frequently re-insert or re-adjust. Now I'm not talking morning jog stuff,... just getting up out of the chair to re-fill a glass of water type stuff. Maybe a sign that I need to experiment with different type/sizes. Something else,... I find myself constantly taking these things out to scratch the inside of my ears. First I thought,... nothing a wet Q-tip couldn't cure. Then after a slight volume imbalance, I went to work on both ears with an ear suringe we got from the Doc a year or so ago for the 7-year old. I'm thinking aggressive flushing upside both sides of the head would cure the weak channel thing,... it did! But the itching continued,... almost like a tickle I can't Spock away! Normal stuff or weird?

And where can I get some different style tips to experiment with on the web?

WOW,... still no iM-390's at Buy.com! My order has been on back order for over 2 weeks now. I'm wondering what I should do. I'm wondering if Maximo has discontinued the line? Anybody ordering AFTER 9/18/07 get theirs yet? And if so, from where!

Thanks!
