Yuin PK3 Appreciation Thread - Page 3

I also have to agree that for "indoor" use they are remarkably pleasant.

I have observed for the first time the whole concept of "Synergy", which I thought to be audiophile lingo aimed at confusing the uninitiated, but i was wrong! These sound MUCH better out of my zune then out of my 1G nano IMO!

After many years, I have finaly settled for a portable rig that I hope will satisfy me many more: zune and pk3's. I have tried everything from H10 Rockboxed with KSC35s to shuffle 1G with marshmallows to nano 1G with Shure e2c and IMHO this is the best in terms of price, SQ, portability and comfort so far. Very comfortable, wide soundstage, good bass and most importantly, music is very enjoyable and "Musical"

I'm always afraid when people talk about "musical factors". Vibes were said to be musical, but they actually were too colored and bassy, and not enjoyable at all.

Vibes were just horrible. The PK3's are just great earbuds for their price. Honestly I would call iBuds musical because they do perform rather well with certain music.

Wow. I'm going to switch the the PK-3 for my portable from the KSC-75 and I am a fan of earclips.

The vocals are a lot clearer compared to the Koss. No more straining to hear lyrics. The bass quantity is not as much as on the Koss, but it's a lot tighter which makes me believe these earbuds sound more Grado-like than the Koss clips.

The cord length is about 32" up to the divider. Then the left side is 5" and the right is 16" to the bud. The j-cord is not as bad as most people complain about. You can wrap the longer right side around the main cable to make it somewhat Y-like or just wear it correctly behind the neck.

I might have to order another pair, too bad the group buy price of $25 is gone. You also get a nice box and a gold 1/4" adapter.

I dont think its really synergy (this is a very debated point so take it with a grain of salt). Its just that the Zune has a better DAC/amp then the nano. Synergy especially with low end gear is just illusion imo!

Anyone else get their PK3 today from the second group buy mailing?

If you did, you are probably smiling like I am!

Yea Ghoti, I got mine this morning.

First off - omg terrific packaging.. for 25$, that's amazing. Beats Apple. I like the small cylindrical carrying case also.

The sound quality is great.. I think they have a wide soundstage for earbuds. Vocals are clear and forward - they sound warm and engaging. I could do with a little more bass maybe, but I guess that's what's to be expected for buds.

Some of you are talking about supplied pads to improve the bass.. what??? Which pads? Do you mean the foamies?

(The Eggo guy looked to have the biggest smile out of all of them).

I think I need to sell these and just go for Pk1s (and maybe some Pk2s in the meantime).

Just got mine today and love them out of the box....except that it seems my left channel is "muted" compared to the right. I've switched ears and sources but it remains in each combination. Has anyone else experienced this?

you might have come across a defect. or you might have some defect ears . kidding of course.

Defective ears is not far from the mark: Too many tubes and surgeries as a child to count! Not to mention the holes that I'm sure I have now. (My right ear has slightly worse hearing than the left.)

But not defective enough to make Yuins sound bad! After more testing with my KSC75's and ear switching, I've ruled out my source as the problem. Each time I put the PK3's back in it's more blatant that they're "off."

Looks like I'll be waiting a bit longer to enjoy these babies!

Alright, I've got to chime in here on these puppies. I'm impressed.....very impressed. Just got them last night. Had only listened to them out of the nano at first. Great warm bud, best bud I've heard to date. Detail is as good as my e2c's, but these are much warmer.

What really blew me away though, is 5 minutes ago, I plugged these puppies into my LDII++.....fantastic. I'm still a newb at this head-fi stuff, but I was blown away. These are going to be my mains in my portable rig now....at least until the Toronto Meet....where I hope to hear the PK1's and PK2's.....I'm scared for my pocket book....not sure I'll even listen to the Weston 3's....wife to be might kill me.

Oh, and I liked these so much last night, I gave my mom my EP630's to use with her shuffle. No worries ma, I've found something I like better.

Well, I like the sounds coming from these headphones, unfortunately for me they don't fit in my ears very well. They sound muted until I hold them directly over my ear canals, I'm thinking they might work better with Griffin ear jams or the radio partner custom earset.
