Hey guys,

I'm doing some funky project in trying to DIY a switch / receiver for my home theater using a set of 280Watt RMS 5.1 PC speaker set and connecting them to the TV, VCR and DVD using some kind of DIY switchbox. Before I get all into it (too late, ordering parts

), I wanted to clarify something.

The center channel of a PC soundcard carries the Center and SUB signal. Which channel is which or is it stereo just because the connector is stereo and both the Left/Right channels of the cable carry the same signal?

I'm thinking it's the later as that makes sense.

But I also saw this document for 7.1 config of Audigy 2ZS cards (I've got one running in 5.1).
This shows the connectors as:

Tip (left normally) - Center
1st Ring (right normally) - Sub
2nd Ring (usually same as ground) - Ground
Body / Ground - Side Left

Since when using stereo plugs Side Left is grounded, the stereo plug carries the center in the Left channel and the Sub on the right.

Any ideas? Anything as simple as a CONFIRMATION that Center / SUB are the SAME signal channel or that they are DIFFERENT would help.

Thanks in advance
