Hmmm I suppose that depends what you are looking for... Personally I have not heard the HD800.... If it sounds like a HD650 with slightly more treble and sub bass then it sounds good to me although it is wayyyy overpriced.

I don't think its anything like the HD650 and I've never heard one, lol.  The LCD-2 sure have me intrigued though.

Regardless, the HD650s are keepers for me.  Honestly, they are my price peak for headphones.  Sound outside of the body (beyond the outer ear zone) is still where its at for me unless i have no other choice.

Do you get this from, say, redbook-quality FLACs? I can't seem to get this even with 650s and my DLIII. What amp do you have? Maybe I need a better amp..but my current one is capable as I got out-of-head soundstage from this one reel tape I have.

Wooooooooooow

is all that I can say :D

The DT880s and HD650 are so different from each other. My buyer's remorse quickly went away right after I plugged my HD650s in like 5 minutes ago. John Mayer - Vultures sounds so different between the headphones.

Not gonna lie, I'm loving the HD650s right now...

Any cable upgrades? I only have crappy RCA cables and stock headphone cable. Maybe it's just my music/recordings that aren't up to it.

Nope.... I have stock cable and £30 RCA cable.... I doubt that a new cable or RCA cable will make any difference at all to the HD650 soundstage so don't waste your money tbh.... (maybe I am wrong but I am 95% sure it wont) The soundstage should be inherant to the way the headphones sound.... Amplifier might make some difference but maybe you are expecting something that isnt there?

Wait a few days/weeks and let's see what you say then. They are definitely different beasts and while the initial "new wow" factor might be great (because it's a refreshing twist on what you've heard before), would definitely be curious about your perceptions after a while....

That was fun, thanks, BT.

Yeah, pretty cool. I guess I'll blame my recordings. That was a $4 well spent :D
I love thunderstorms, now I can have one whenever I want!

I didn't get sucked in until a minute after it ended though (then I realized it was over) but I guess I could loop it. I'm odd like that (or maybe not) - I can listen to a whole album without connecting with the music, I'm just kinda indifferent for a while. I guess my mind needs about an hour warming up period for a true listening session. Anyone else like this? Sorry for the (further?) derail

can be like this.  Occasionally I like something immediately, but then it usually isn't something that I like for a sustained period.  I really liked Sleigh Bells debut, but it wore away quickly.

With every Sonic Youth record I ever bought, I had to listen to it multiple times in order to approach it properly.  So...yes and no.

I just got my headroom astrodyne power supply that I'm using with the headroom desktop amp to go with my HD 650's. It sounds like there's a change, but I can't describe what it is. Maybe it's placebo, but I hope not. It feels like I'm just about there with my ideal sound already, but it also makes me even more curious about other upgrade options.
