Am I not allowed to dislike the house sound from a manufacturer?

Not unless you are /custom/huddle/headfi/img/badges/badge_headphoneusSupremus.v2411770217.png ... only then are you allowed to have you own opinion. Just Kidding, in case that's not obvious

I genuinely hope it is fantastic, I really do.  I would buy an HD650 upgrade in a heartbeat.

Teaser alert: I have been smitten with the 650 for years. The 650 has tone that is just beautiful. It scales nicely and resolves well on a good amp/dac. Plus it is comfortable as anything you'll find, reasonably priced and is fairly forgiving of less than well recorded music. What more could anyone ask for? Well, how about a successor? Something truly so good that I'd put my 650 aside on a semi permanent basis. Well, for me, that product did not exist.

All I can say is to keep an eye on HF tomorrow...:veryevil:  (evil grin).

I would love to have a HD650 sound in the HD700 look/design.

to me it's all about weight and comfort(ok and maybe a little bit about sound ^_^). else they could be pink with a unicorn figurine on top of the headband, I would be just fine.

Castle, drop these IE80 and go Unicorn!

Is this you? And is this the reason you like unicorns so much?

In all seriousness - I have no issues with the current design of the HD650 - comfortable and they sound amazing, they are still my most used headphones at home.

But I really like the looks of the HD700 - so a combination of these two would be idea for me.

Cheers.

Headphoneus Supremus are only those who have posted a lot, not necessarily those who know a lot

Nope. When I was young I thought that I knew everything. The older I get the more I realize that I know very little. Now, my wife...she knows everything. Ask her and she'll tell you.

Women know everything, that's a fact of life

, and if they could design memory chips as good as most women's memory we would be looking at quantum computing very soon
