Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread

I have mine also about ten days ago, I´m more than impressed, these cans continue to improve. Now I´m a burn in believer. The sound improves more and more, it is almost like a different can from the start. Can´t wait to get them the BTH Crack and maybe new cables...

Go for some quality tubes for your Crack or the speed ball upgrade first, they will cost a fraction of what a new quality cable will cost for the HD650 and are a really easy to hear upgrades. Tubes can be rolled to suit your own taste, details, bass, treble mids, etc with any headphone you plug in.

just a warning, dont drop your cans
the other day my wife said she was in my office and saw my cans on the floor ( i assume it was one of my kids---wasntme and idontknow )
since it was christmas i didnt bother to check them and figured they were okay as my desk is only like 4 feet tall
today i went to my office and fired up my hd650's and bummer the left driver is rattleing on the bass and is only about half as loud
i ran some test tones and sure enough the left driver is partially blown -horrible thumping from 10hz-40hz
i called sennheiser and as i figured they were out of warranty
i talked to a very knowledgeable person who offered me a couple of choices and answered the many questions i had
my choices were to send them in for a flat rate fix for around 154.00 or buy a replacement driver for 49.00
i opted for the replacement driver  so if anybody finds themselves in my position here are somethings i didnt know
1. the drivers are interchangable ie: no true left or right
2.  replacement parts are warranted for 90 days
3. part # for drivers are 092855 --650 only
4. senn's response is fast--2 hours after i placed the order i had an e-mail with a tracking #
all in all i dont consider 50.00 to be a huge amount to save my beloved cans especially since im going to save a lot of money at x-mas next year after i kill my kids ( just kidding )
so be carefull and have a great holiday everyone

How much sound leakage/isolation do the hd650 have compared to Hifiman or Audeze headphones. I know it will have leakage, but is it as severe as the others?

Mine have hit the floor twice...that I know of. Both times it was my wife (she blames it on the dog). I was lucky and there was no damage. I used to leave my 650's on a dedicated mat on my desk, but now put them on their own stand.

Sorry to hear of your trouble but glad that you were able to get them repaired.

Not having to match drivers has something good to say about Sennheiser Quality Control. So did you decide at which Chicago street to drop off lose the offender?

Thanks mate, I certainly will do, the problem is that I already know how it would be once I begin to roll the tubes (I´m already afraid it will get expensive and complicated hehehe) But I´m sure that's the right path
