We all have them. Here are some of mine.

A couple years ago I had a long, detailed dream in which Hitler's servants/guards were trying to catch me and take me to him, because he wanted to "talk to me" (the implied threat was that he was interested in a lot more than talking). The dream was an endless cycle of running down the stairs (Hitler's suite was on the top floor of a hotel-like building), getting captured at gunpoint and led back up the stairs, slipping away when the guards turned their backs, and running down the stairs to be captured again. The dream ended with me finally getting outside without getting captured and having a bunch of little beggar children offer to sell me passports, boat tickets, and other items I would need to escape. I remember that I could understand German if it was spoken to me but I couldn't read it (I was doubting the authenticity and quality of the documents the children were trying to sell me, since I couldn't read them to see if they were what the kids claimed they were), and although I answered everyone in English they understood me.

When I was around 10, I had a dream where this giant mass of spikes growing and engulfing the world. I watched helplessly on the news as the ever-growing murderous spikes impaled and slaughtered everything in its path.

I was actually 17 or 18 at the time but in my dream I'm around 9 years old. I'm in the car with my mom and we get pulled over by a cop (which is weird in itself because my mother has never gotten pulled over). After going through the beginning of the normal pull-over procedure, the cop pulls out his gun and murders my mother! He kidnaps me and for some odd reason, takes me back to my house. We live like this for a little while, all the time I'm getting more and more angry at him by the day. Suddenly, I decide to murder him to avenge my mother's death and at that exact moment, he turns into satan. I go after him any way and the dream ends with me killing the devil with a butcher knife.

Your turn

Hmm, 2 of my most memorable:

First, I had one where my house was catching on fire, and I'd run out, and my house in flames. Out of the basement/ground floor would come, believe it or not, Arnold Swarchenegger(sorry, I just mashed my keyboard, didn't really attempt) would come out of the flames, gun slung over his shoulder. Damn, that was a scary one. The interesting part? I didn't see the terminator, I only saw bits and pieces.

Second one: it started out with me and a bunch of boys in a sort of town square which was covered in ice, and its snowy. Suddenly, some scary man appears(sort of like that bald guy from "The Addam's Family." He is in chains. Someone shouts "Chrystus," (Christ, not in the swearing way, but in the "that's his name" way) and we all scramble out. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that I'm originally from Poland?
biggrin.gif
This dream was in America though. Anyway, we scramble away, While I'm the last one. Anyway, I scramble away towards a building with a garden hose coiled up near it. I scramble in the building, and its a bunch of old men eating soup or something. I get under a table, and I watch as the scary guy comes towards me.

Let's see if I can dig up more. . .

My most memorable? When I was eating at a Chinese buffet, I realized that I had no clothes on, but I proceeded to the buffet table to get a platter of crab rangoons.

matthew,
you've played too much "castle wolfenstein".

my worst nightmares are usually of the "night of the living dead" kind. when i was about 14 i had a good one where an earthquake had caused the dead to sprout out of the ground like plants. i remember hiding out in a library and watching people being chased down and munched by zombies inside.

btw, "dawn of the dead" is one of my favorite movies.

the only one i can remember is a pretty good. i had it when i was about 9 or 10 anywho...it's dark outside but it's light in my room. i'm playing gi joes. i hear something...it's coming from my closet. i yell for mommy. she comes...she hears the sound im hearing. it definatly coming from the closet. it's gurgling stretching sound...kind of hard to explain...i beg my mom not to open the door but she does. she opens it inside is a long lit hallway with many doors. one of the doors is stretching out like goo. stretchingout and moaning. again i beg my mom not to open the door...but she does...the contents are hundred of red demons piled on top of each other scrambling to get her....the end.

Funny, I don't remember many nightmares, though the one I can remember dates back to when I was 6 or 7; weird, huh?

And it's pretty much the same as Andrzejpw's (hey, I think I got it right!), though without Schwartzenegger.

i'm very heavily into dreams. for awhile there i was writing my dreams on a paper pad while i was still asleep. now i deciepher the dreams before waking up.

if you're interested in some lite reading material, Mike Avery's "The Secret Language of Waking Dreams" is a good place to start.

the problem with dreams and nightmares is knowing when they are real (have real significance) and when they are garbage (usually because of something you've seen on tv, usually while eating). most (about 90%) dreams or nightmares are garbage.

after recalling a dream - see if something in your life happens later which corresponds to something in a dream.

my all time best dream - the dream was in three parts: the first part was about avoiding obstacles in my life, the second was a retreat where Buddha, Jesus, Mohavir, etc (all the enlightened ones live). i told myself, "remember this place because later on in life you are going to live here." there was also 5 children (which represented 5 world religions) and i looked up to God and said, "Lord, your children are so beautiful." i then saw all the world's history on a wooden chair with all the animals signifying different countrys, like the eagle (US) and bear (USSR). the third part had me flying over a zen monestary. but i decided not to go down because "there was no-one there". (zen joke). i then decided to go flying towards God and 5 lightening spirits screamed up at me not to go further. and i said, "i'm not afraid to die. and if there's a God i'm going to find him."

i then flew past the planets, past millions of lights, and was getting ever closer to a while light.

i then heard myself say, "wally, come back. the alarm clock is going to go off in two minutes. come back slowly. and do not open your eyes quickly. open them slowly." so i did. and the alarm clock went off 1 minute later.

as to the middle part of the dream - FIVE years later everything in the dream happened while in Sedona, Arizona. All the sights, sounds and smells from my dream - everything. looking at the hills i could see all the world's cultures - from the ancient chinese to today's headlines, i saw myself finding the circles, and walking around them just like i did in my dream. i remember the people i met and talked to. just like in my dream.

as a side note, i used to deciepher people's dreams at work. my ex boss was telling me that he had 10 dogs chasing him and that he jumped over a fence into a gulley, and then jumped over another set of fences and then was safe. i told him that the 10 dogs are his friends and that they were out to destroy him. i told him the first fence was him losing his job. the gulley was a period when he was going to be depressed. and the second fence was a new job.

it happened just as i told him.

I would love to tell you my nightmares. Unfortunatley, they are still going on and I can't wake up.

I do remember a long time ago I used to have nightmares about my job. Usually trains not stopping and running into other trains or off the track. Then I read an article on how to control your dreams in Omni magazine. The next time a bad dream started I took control of it and turned in to a fun fantasy dream. (I played crack the whip with the train.) I didn't have train dreams for several years after that. In fact the only train dreams I have now are just weird, not bad.

I can remember some dreams from my childhood. But only the nightmares. Is that strange?
I had one about a plane crashing in to the forest. The forest was an evergreen style forest but all the trees were very dark. The plane went flying into the trees and burst into a big fireball. It was like I was watching from someplace a good distance away and above the trees. The really weird part is that a few days later I saw on TV, a news story about a plane crashing into the Black Forest in Europe. I was only 9 or 10 years old then.
Then when I was 15 or so, I had dream about riding in the car with my parents and dad missing a curve and we go flying off the side of a hill. The bad part was that I thought I was supposed to pass out before the car hit the ground and I couldn't pass out. The car just kept sailing out in the air for a very long time. It was very frightening. Enough so that to this day if I am driving on that road I slow down at that curve. And, I'm 44 now.

Interesting thread...
I have been having frustrating dreams recently. Things like agonizing over punching the right numbers into a calculator, mindless arguements over petty subjects where I have not been able to access information etc...
I think I miss my Audio Technicas

I have a feeling you'd expect something really bizarre from me... And I know I can't disappoint you:

My main nightmare is about an atomic bomb. I'm in my parents summerhouse (it's an old farm) when suddenly over the fields very beautyful fireworks explode. Everybody is stunned and thrilled, but when the smoke has cleared we see a bomb hanging from a parachute slowly deschending towards the ground. A few seconds later the bomb hits the ground and explodes. I don't know how but suddenly my whole family is sitting in the car, going 100 mph trying to outrun the shock- and heatwave of the bomb. After a while the shockwave gives the car a violent push, but we're still going. Then we go into the nabour farm where I hide in a closet. (

) After sitting there for a few seconds I hear my mother screaming as the heatwave of the nuclear bomb turns her into dust. Then I die.

Haven't had nightmares until the last few years...

Here's the most recent one: I dreamt that I was a terrorist suicide bomber, in a bunch of other terrorist suicide bombers. We had atomic bombs strapped to ours waists and were going to bomb the nearest airport to kingdom come. Then when I just about got there I started trying to chicken out but the others won't let me.

My brother laughed his ass off when I told him this dream.

joe,
your's is simple - watch that you don't get into the wrong situation with friends. they could be frat or football team or work buddies. the gang mentality will show up and you'll be caught up in something you shouldn't.

once you know what's to happen - don't argue, don't talk about it - just walk away.

flasken,
your's has to do with surprises and changes. something momentus should haved (?) happened and you just managed to out run the trouble or calamity.

millerdog,
you need more exercise and fresh air and good food. nothing adds up for you, now. information is being kept from you. you're being kept in the dark.

PD - interesting prophetic dream. as to the trains, all moving vehicles represent the body (either spiritual / subconcious or physical). train wrecks and not stopping would indicate you subconsciously wrecking opportunities and missed opportunities.

the trick is to know when you're having a nightmare - your body should say to you - "you're having a nightmare. turn your body and it will go away". that's what happens to me, and when i don't want to have a sex dream.
