Audition of Sony R10 (and Grado HP1)

The RK50 is ungodly expensive, which I think was the point.

It is my belief that a true no-compromise amplifier should have no pot at all. It must simply be built in such a way that the volume is correct without attenuation.

Nik, how could you possibly plan to modify the lid? I suspect a nice coat of blue dynamat would look lovely and audiophiles swear by it.

eric343,

the pot. of my R-10H was the RK40 (Black Beauty), as you can see in the inside photo of the amp. that is a very good pot. but the RK50 is the best pot in the world, the price is 500$, only by special order from Japan, and 3 or 4 mounts of wait to have it. At the moment I can’t tell you nothing about it because the designer is working for the changement, I’ll tell you late. The designer told me that certainly the RK50 will be much better especially for the centre of the image, he thinks that with headphones its very important the hi precision of the pot. used.

Like I said before, kelly, the solution to your problem is to have 100 identical amps with different gains arrayed in front of you for to manually switch to.

Kelly,

I think that with the RK50 I can to be happy.... the designer prefers the pot. to the stepp. att., he told me this a lot of times, I respect his project!

About the lid, I wish just to eliminate this "cofin aspect", a simple grill with wooden frame around.
