Awesome. They are beautiful too, in a retro/minimalist manner. Let us know what you think, especially compared the other phones in your profile. Also, tell us what music you listen to with them.

Hmmm, do I see an RA-1 in your near future

After listening to these phones for a few hours there are few things that I can definitely say. The phones clearly have a colored midrange, and I prefer that. The Bass is tonal and tight. The highs are clearly very bright, something that I had to remedy with my eq, I hope to have this solved by Wednesday, I have already ordered the comfy pad’s from headroom

As far as my musical preference is concerned house, jungle, hard house, dark trance, hip hop, rock, metal and the classic’s (Marley, zepp, stones) all round out my musical preference. I’ll have to post more tomorrow or later on tonight on how they compare to my other phones. I don’t have the KSC 50’s yet, so I couldn’t compare them to those… like I would anyway. In all likelihood I can honestly see myself switching from 580’s and my Logitech Z560’s to the 325’s for the majority of my listening at the computer. I will probably keep the 580’s and use them at work or to listen to laid back music, Marley, LZ.

A first impression from NIN: Now that I have grado’s I can see why people say they are good to rock out on. I have always been a NIN fan, but recently have been straying. Well I just finished listening to pretty hate machine; these phones brought the love back more so then ever.

To me Nine Inch Nails is the best headphone act out there. Trent and his sounds are amazing coming out of good, detailed cans. I really thought The Downward Spiral was pretty crappy until I loaded it up on my V6 for the first time.

And did you just say Led Zeppelin is laid back music? Do you have "Ten Years Gone" on infinite loop, or what?

Mercid: I'm glad you are enjoying your new toy.

I might suggest that you not mess with the eq, at least for now. Use the grado as is for a few more days. Get a good 20 hours or so of use from it before you decide to tame down the highs. It may surprise you even more.

By the way, I started to miss the the 325, luckily I have some 300 as a backup

Forgot to add, the comfy pads will muffle the highs a bit.

Mercid: you said you have the 580s as well. Could you try an experiment? Listen to the 325s unneutered, no eq, nothing, for a few weeks. Then go back to the 580s. I have a theory in my head. . .

I'll second that. I changed out the pads about 5 minutes after I got my 325s and never looked back. It really warms them up.

I agree with most things you said about the grado 325 sound.
But do not understand about mid range being colored.
Can ya explain in more detail as to in what ways you find the mid range to be colored?

cheers

I would not use the comfy pads on the SR325. They will destroy the soundstage and ruin the treble while bloating the bass. Stick with the bowl pads and use some quality amplification. This will refine the sound by removing the harshness from the treble. Grados love amps that can give them plenty of current.
