Removing the HD650 foam over the drivers.

My ears touch the foam, so if I remove the foam, my ears would be touching the drivers. Suppose I won't do this mod.

Well i tried it i think highs were there but you lose some ss for some reason i think sound does change a lot but i think i've got enough high centric headphones to modify some good sounding warm/dark headphones

Tbh I'm looking for stock headphones, is there any way to put them back to stock?

I know this thread is not very active but glad I found it. I had been thinking yesterday,,,what is wrong with these cans? The veil was just getting to me...I've got enough juice going into them, balanced cable, etc. So I thought I would try this mod--well, not really a mod, just pulled off the pads and removed the rather thick foam inside the ear cups. Nothing scientific but mainly it seems to have somewhat removed the mild veil and distance from the music. A little better highs too, as one might imagine, removing damping material. Piano seems a bit less congested and nasally. Perhaps subtle sound stage intricacies/reflection control have been lost but I would say overall I'm enjoying the clearer, more vivid presentation with the foam out. Jan Garbarek's sax is cutting into my ears again so I know the change is real!
