Any anime series that you've been enjoying?

Trigun probably my all time favor. Vash is a funny, while serious character. His unique character trait is different than most of the anime at that time.

Fate/Stay Night- Well, if anyone care to know, the anime is OK.. just "OK" compare to its game. Actually.. ur.. H-game =_=a
but don't let it fool you. For anyone understand Japanese fluently, the game is much much better than the anime. Consider the multi story lines and all the emotional journey that each character goes through that are never showed in the anime.

True Moon Chronicle- well, its basically in the same shoes as Fate/stay Night. They are both came from Type Moon production. While the anime Fate was ok, True Moon Chronicle can be listed as ur...... Black History of the series. Due to the lack of fund, the anime was forced to cut down a lot of scenes and story line. Which made it much worse than the original game. As same, if you understand Japanese, go for the game, you won't be disappointed.

PS: There are some translation of two of the game above floating around on internet, is worth a search.

Ultaware (direct translated as>>> "The praised one")- Yeah, another anime came from a original 16+ game. Well, the anime was extremely well made, it cut off some part of the game to make the anime more straight to the point. but I also prefer the original game. Some of the funny plot line in the game was created in the SP series, and I must say, they are really really funny.
In my opinion the ending of the anime was not as good as the game. I am embarrass to say, but I actually got some tear in my eyes at the end of the game. While the anime did a pretty good ending, but it miss a great deal of emotion flow that exist only in the game

Full Metal Panic-
Fumoffu- well, this is school version of FMP. this season is the gather of funny plots that was drawn int the comic.
2nd Raid - This one went more deeply into character development. Mainly focus on the main character's unclear future as a mercenary.

Full Metal Alchemist- What I must say... dont' watch the anime, read the comic, is much better

Trinity Blood- The style of drawing for Trinity is great, love the storyline. Too bad the anime was cutted off in the middle due to the fact that the original producer died during the anime development. (watch the last episode, then you will know)

EVA- don't need to say more, probably one of the soon-will-consider-as-classic anime

Gundam series-

My personal favor was W, yes, some people hate it because it was too deep into politic. But I think the storyline was great.

Seed-I is alright over all, nothing too fancy but pretty cool action and story line.
Seed-Destiny- All I can say is that the new producer killed the Seed series. hate the new main character, Shin. Also, even the sound cast of Kira and Athran disagree with the story line. ... a third Seed series is coming out(no, is not the Star Gazer), hopefully is not too terrible.

Kenshin is my all time favorite toward old time Japanese sword fights. Even though I must say, the OVA ending is quiet sad.... some fan even pretend that the OVA do not exist.

Black Lagoon- its style is pretty cool. Besides that fact that it took me a long~~~~ while, repeat hearing it over and over again to finally understand what the heck is the opening song saying. And i must say, the english part in the anime came from electronic dictionary, is horrible. But as the anime goes, I highly recommand it.

Wow nice post! I think I might watch some Gundam, thanks to you.

Call me crazy but I like the FMA anime more than the comic

Recently watched Genshiken and really enjoyed it. (Haven't seen Comic Party or Otaku no Video.) Production looked good for a TV, but the script was great. Don't know how close it was to the manga. A few big laughs each episode, based more on character and human situations than slapstick, which is a nice change. Character relationships and situations really felt real.
I actually recognised the Big Sight convention building! (It turned into a mecha in Nurse Witch Komugi, and had its own theme song.)

I was expecting the otaku interests to be a bit broader - the characters are mainly into doujinshi, watching Kujibiki Unbalance (fictional anime show), with a bit of cosplay and model building. In one of the extras you can see a crowd of otaku bopping to a "live" performance of the KU theme song at a convention, so I guess that's an aspect I'm glad they didn't cover.

The 3 KU episodes are an extra worth watching, particularly the middle "re-cap" episode, which parodies a whole bunch of stuff.

I'm definitely going to watch this again soon, once I get through my pile of other stuff. Might try the dub this time. Recommended!

I'll probably get some flak for this, but I didn't like Akira. I always hear that it's a "must-see", but it just didn't engage me at all. I can see where that Dragonball cartoon got some of its animation styles, but other than that I can't see why Akira is considered a classic.

It's interesting that Stand Alone Complex is higher on the list than the Ghost in the Shell movies. I agree with it though; I like the SAC series more than I liked the first Ghost in the Shell movie at least.

Paranoia Agent is way too high, and where are FLCL and Lupin the 3rd?!? Seems like this list is a little too centered on newer shows, as I see both Naruto and Fullmetal Alchemist in the top 15.

I don't really agree with that list at all but that seems to be typical of what happens whenever someone does a "best of" list. What I do agree with is their picking of My Neighbor Totoro as the best of Miyazaki's films, I have thought much the same for quite a long time. I think when it comes to trying to rank items in such a list though it's you have to ask "For what reason does it deserve it's position?". Taking something like Akira as an example; it has had undeniable influence but today it is not as technically impressive as it originally was. I don't find it particularly entertaining to watch myself either but it is undeniably thought provoking and skilfully structured. I think few would deny how groundbreaking it was at the time. Does this make it worthy of such a position on the list? Personal taste really.

I'm glad Miyazaki had 3 on there - totally deserving!

I guess it depends on how you define "must-see." I would put Dragonball/DBZ on the list somewhere; not because I think it's a good anime but because it has such a huge impact on the genre that everyone should be familiar with it.

I don't know why Elfen Lied is on the list. Nothing about it stood out for me, it was more of a watch-if-you-have-nothing-else-to-do anime.

I'm also surprised that Kenshin (TV series or OVA) didn't make the list. It's definitely a great piece of work. It might be a bit too early but I would put Death Note on the list too.

And I would definitely put FMA ahead of Escaflowne.

This list is void because PlanetES is not on it. Akira was not impressive at all, although I'd agree it is a 'must-see' just to show how far anime has come. Paranoid Agent is far too high. It started well but ended up a complete mess. I lol'd when I saw Bubblegum Crisis on it...

QFT! Wait, what does that symbol mean?

Where in the world is Robot Carnival?! No list is valid without that one.

Kino's Journey also seems to be missing from that list. I would also replace Naruto with something like Perfect Blue or Gantz. I don't think a series that isn't completed should be on a "Top" list until it is finished. That said, I used to be a Naruto fan, but kind of fell out of it when the filler episodes started. Also, they should replace Escaflowne with Nescaflowne (go to a con if you haven't seen this one yet, the funniest thing I have ever seen).

Bubblegum Crisis? I never gave that one much of a chance. Saw 2 episodes and found out it wasn't for me. Can't even remember what it was about.

I guess I am the only one that thinks Akira should be high on that list (not #2, but in the top 10 for sure). I still think it is a visually impressive anime, especially considering that no CG was used. All hand drawn cells FTW!

Millennium Actress and Tokyo Godfathers should also have a place on that list somewhere. I had pretty much lost faith in anime movies until I saw those two. Go see them if you haven't already. Go ahead and knock off Castle in the Sky and Hellsing with those two. Yeah, I said knock Hellsing off. The ending just killed that one for me.

Aside from that, switch the GITS entries and and put them lower on the list, move Memories much higher on the list and that should get that list back on the right track. Oh, and add Voices from a Distant Star and Saikano as well. Hmm, guess it needs to be a Top 30 list.

End rant.
