I think it is funny how Stevio uses a small and you use a medium. I found yours too big and his perfect...and I have a bigger head than either of you

I am just baffled...

AND HEY!! I am first to the Qualias

I am sure your recabled Qualias must sound pretty sweet as well. I'll have to wait until I am there in the area (next month most likely).

Nope. Only the SA5K and SA1K were on show. SA3Ks are with Lan/Ian of HeadFi. I dont anyone else who has them and I dont know why...if the SA1K and SA5K are anything to go by then the SA3Ks have some serious potential.

guess who has both of the Qualia 010 cables I made. and why was he at the meet rather than working on my amplifier? I want my amplifier now!! lol

j/k... Mikhail deserves a break, and he said I should get my amplifier shortly.
biggrin.gif

as for why my 010 is a medium, that's what the Qualia rep said I should get. I was almost a small, but we went with the medium just to be safe. it seems to be a good fit so I don't have any complaints.

once I attach stevio's drivers to my headband, you can borrow my drivers on stevio's headband.

I've got to hear that again. I didn't like any of their qualias as Aaron's house meet.

Hey, it was an awesome meet wasn't it! Great to see some old faces and plenty of new ones too. Special thanks goes to Thrice for holding the joint again, it takes someone special to have 28 'fiers in your house at any one given time.

It was nice to be wearing a name tag this time around. I felt that people were more willing to approach me since they could associate me with my screen name. I went to best buy after the meet and forgot to take it off so people must have been like What?

I think I spent most of the time with Tkam's setup, The Maverick to the Veda Dynahi to the PS-1s was a fab combo and I just couldn't get enough of it. (can anyone tell I'm a basshead?

). I also thought Tkam's rockin' headphone stand from Larry was the shizz, although I'm scared to think how much it costs. $$

$$

It was also a nice suprise to see Mikhail there, we got to talk about my new PPX3 6SN7 that should be shipping this coming week. The incredible new circuit boards for the amps were present and able to be checked out. They seemed very sturdy and well engineered. It was also very nice to hear the CD3000 w/AKG K1000 drivers with the Singlepower Slam, which sounded nothing like the stock k1000s oddly enough.

I still gotta say I'm still not a big fan of the Sony cans, although GS lovingly brought me the Qualias to try on a few different amps
biggrin.gif
Maybe if they had 1/4 the highs and 4x the bass I would like them
basshead.gif
. It was great to see you there GS! Don't forget to get back to me on that awesome Dynahi
wink.gif

This was also my first chance to see and hear the RKV mkII, it was much larger than I thought from the pictures I've seen and provided a nice lush and warm sound.

Anyway it was good times and I'm looking forward to the next one.

lan...this meet was all about the Qualias for me. Also the KGSS + Stax SR-404 was pretty sweet...but the Qualia...omg...

When I first put on Stevios Qualia they just felt *right* sitting on my head. Perfect seal and then they disappeared...couldnt feel them anymore. When I plugged them into an amp and played my *Medeski Martin & Wood" cd...track #11...I was just plain clean bowled. The bass was shocking...the whole experience left me shaking nervously...in a way that, before this, only the Orpheus afforded.

I want the Orpheus more than the Qualia but I REAALLY really deep down want them both.

Stevio - what did you do to your Qualias?

No honkiness, no horny sound (um...horn-like would be more appropriate?), no shrillness...no piercing highs...

sobering...

just get a black dragon & let it burn.

i now like the qualia on most anything i plug it into including an sr-71. it is very nice with dynahis, rkv, singlepowers, headamps, headroom max. it is pretty much at a state where i am not as choosy about what i plug it in to. i think this has a lot to do with the change the headphone went through from burning in. there was a time before my ears adjusted where I had problems with various amps but the cable & 010 came together. today i had an opportunity to hear it with a super custom supra which completely topped anything else i have heard it with to date.

i must admit that my brain took a while to get acclimated to the qualia sound. first because it was not fully burned in & after burn in i was overwhelmed by the detail which was new, unusual & extraordinary compared to other cans.

hirsch has a medium & i have a small extended to the maximum length but the fabric stretched & it seems a little larger than a new out of the box small.
