It will lose. But you never know there maybe people who disagree and prefer the 325i to the RS-1's. Just a matter of preference. I didn't find the highs that bad. But then I am using the Melos. The sr-71 is slightly forward IIRC this might be why you find the 325i a little bright. But I don't find it so.

I can attest to these impressions as well. I switched to some NOS tubes in the jolida that make the mids really warm and lush, and listening to The Rapture "Echoes" (rock/punk/dance/electronica) and its a great combo, the mids are actually much smoother and lush, the interpol sounded like swooshy garbage, but i guess this recording does a better job of getting the guitars out of the way of one another, whereas on the interpol its recorded with the guitars right on top of each other, which the 325i exaggerates to a somewhat unlistenable degree.

I almost orgasmed though when i was listening to some Monheit with the Sylvania Gold pins and 325i's, those would be worth it just for that fact!

Not to mention most hard rock is terribly recorded anyway. This might give the impression of bright headphone. I even tried using the 325i's with bowls. Quite listenable in fact. Now RS-1's brand new and bowls recipe for disaster, if you ask me.

dude...serious....look at them! hear them!

they are the 325i with the rs-1...but alittle better

imagine a world where the 325's have such a voice, alot lighter, so warm, not as shirl or metalish sound...

imagine that same world where the rs-1 is alittle more nuetral, alittle more open in the high...

those are rs-2's! and they are really seriously been getting alot of use from me ears as of late.
frank sinatra, micheal bluble, and the stanard type of singers like them are dead on perfect!
Last night I was relaxing to 2pac's hail mary with them...oh my lord I thought I was in church..

really!

Hey Billy>It's not that no one cares. It's just you give off the perception of wanting to collect them without actually liking them. I know your thoughts on the Joe Grado stuff but to be honest it's a stupid reason not to own something like the HP-2's which I know you like and have posted about it. You can afford the PS-1 but not the hp-2, c'mon Billy. Personally I have no problem with you at all. But that's the perception I get off the forums.

Anyway back on-topic

The Rs-2 I have not heard and don't know how that would compare to the 325i. I think it should be pretty close????? I like the 325i for what it offers for the money.

I don't know dude if the RS-2 is worth it compared for the performance you may or may not get over the 325i. 325i are a bargain no doubt about it. Price/performance this is one of the best. Mini Rs-1 this is.

One thing I forgot to add was the difference between bowls and flats on the rs-1 is huge. On the 325i the difference is not as big. IMO

with the discretion of goredwings, i would like to chime in on 325i's on bad rock recordings (like all of them lol). I was listening to weezer pinkerton, tons of crunchy and distorted guitars, it was a little too much on the 325i's. They are incredibly detailed, especially in the midrange, but the highs are actually quite forward, and it was a little bit too much, just kind of drilled in my head.

So i switched to the ms-2's, and voila! Everything sounded so much more open, cohesive, the screechy bad highs were gone, seemed to be more recessed in balance with the rest of the spectrum, its like the alessandros have a different priority in the frequency, the frequency transition seems much smoother than the 325i's, its not more neutral, but just that the highs are more balanced out and recessed into the spectrum, so i am getting more warmth in a sense, really reminds me of the grado cartridges.

The ms-2's imo are much better for bad recordings than the 325i's for that simple fact, i look around and the majority of music is no where near audiophile standards lol

I got to admit the 325i is quite a balanced listen. I have been using them continously seeming I have sent the Rs-1's to Ryan. Obviously any bad recording will really come out bad using Grado's but it can't be helped. The 325i is no different. I like how the 325i's have really good instrument seperation when using flats. When I use flats on my RS-1's the detail and instrument seperation gets sacrificed for more bass impact. That's why I use reverse bowls on the RS-1's. Not many people prefer reverse bowls hardly any in fact.
