General Information
a high quality, high value [performance/price] triple-driver hybrid with a unique tuning system. for background i refer you to ljokerl's headphonelist website, where the unit is described and its tuning system explained: http://theheadphonelist.com/headphone_review/flc-technology-flc8/
the flc8s had ljokerl's highest sound rating [9.4] of any non-custom iem under $1300. they cost $343 and deliver a rich, full sound across the spectrum. i listen to classical music and jazz, so deviated from the neutral tuning because it made the highs a little thin. i exchanged one of the tuning devices to boost the highs, and now a first violin has a full tone again [tested with melos quartet's 'death and the maiden' 2nd movement]. the neutral deep bass and upper bass settings sounded fine with cello, and also with charlie hayden's double bass ['first song-for ruth' with pat methany, which i use to test lows]. i then listened to a piano sonata [uchida playing schubert's 20th sonata, 2nd movement] to test across the spectrum.
the flc8 doesn't get as high an average rating from theheadphonelist, mostly because it is not strongly isolating. [rated 3.5 out of 5]. this is fine with me - i have ety 4's with custom tips if i want isolation. with the flc8 i'm less likely to get run over.
