General Information
The Q5s Bluetooth DSD-Capable DAC and Headphone Amplifier from FiiO continues to use the interchangeable amp module design of its predecessor, the Q5, and is fully compatible with FiiO amp modules for enhanced sound and outputs. The Q5s offers high-fidelity audio on the go and packs a multitude of features in a compact and lightweight frame. What's the differences between Q5s and Q5? The Bluetooth chip has been upgraded to CSR8675, which now supports LDAC and aptX HD, and the DAC chip has been upgraded to AK4493. The front RGB indicator can indicate six kinds of Bluetooth encoding formats and indicates sampling rate and DSD when connected via USB.
Other upgrades for the Q5s include the power switch, which is now combined with the volume knob for more convenient operation. Input switching and status indicators have been added on the side of the device and four status indicators have a power indicator function. The AM3E amp module supports 2.5, 4.4 and 3.5mm headphones and the clock system now supports up to 768 kHz/32-bit decoding. Additionally, the sandblasted all-aluminum alloy CNC chassis with rounded corners gives the Q5s a eye-catching look that's easy to hold.
Compatibility with Balanced and Unbalanced Headphones
The Q5s continues to use the interchangeable amp module design of its Q5 predecessor and is fully compatible with previous FiiO amp modules released so far. The updated standard balanced amp module AM3E provides 3.5mm single-ended as well as both 2.5 and 4.4mm balanced headphone outputs.
Robust Decoding Capabilities
With the upgrade to the XMOS clock management system, the Q5s features robust decoding capabilities over USB, SPDIF, and Bluetooth. USB supports up to 768 kHz/32-bit and native hardware-decoded DSD. SPDIF supports up to 192 kHz/24-bit. Bluetooth supports up to 96 kHz/24-bit (through LDAC).
Aluminum Alloy Finish
The sandblasted all-aluminum alloy CNC chassis with rounded corners give the Q5s a pleasing look.
Thoughtful Materials
The back of the Q5s is made of a high-quality polyurethane leather. The three buttons and an upgraded volume knob on the side allow for an ergonomic and tactile way to interact with your music.
Intuitively Know the Details with Just a Glance
Each input mode is represented with a separate indicator light, so you can know what the status is with just a glance. Long-press the input selection button on the side to view how much battery is left according to four LEDs.
Audio Formats at a Glance
RGB lights also indicate the audio format being played. Six different colors quickly tell you which Bluetooth codec is currently being played through the Q5s. In addition, when in USB decoding mode, the RGB lights indicate sampling rate.
Exhaustive List of Outputs
Standard with the Q5s is the updated AM3E balanced amp module. It is built with a 3.5mm single-ended balanced output as well as 2.5 and 4.4mm balanced outputs. The Q5s also supports line-out output.
Fully Stocked on Inputs
In addition to USB and Bluetooth decoding, the Q5s also supports SPDIF digital and analog line-in input, handled through a multi-function input port that supports up to 192 kHz/32-bit.
Gain and Bass Boost Controls
The hardware gain and bass boost control circuits ensure that the quality of your music doesn't diminish while still allowing you to get your music to sound the way you want it.
Battery Life
The built-in 3800mAh rechargeable lithium-ion polymer battery can get you through the day in most situations.
Auto Shutdown
With the automatic shutdown function, if there is no input source or there has been no music played through a connected input source after a set time (10 minutes), the Q5s will automatically turn itself off.
Intelligent Adjustment
When connected to your computer, the Q5s automatically adjusts its charging current and rate according to smart detection of the USB port's output capability. When connected to a phone via USB, the Q5s will automatically know not to charge and draw power from it. So, no worries.
Simpler Operation
The original Q5 had a separate power button and volume knob. The Q5s uses a single volume knob to turn past a certain point, making it more convenient and easier to use.
ADC Volume Adjustment
No more tiny volume imbalances between the left and right channel. With ADC volume adjustment, the Q5s features an ADC curve reconstruction process that eliminates any channel volume imbalances that occur when adjusting the volume through a traditional analog potentiometer, and also allows for much greater precision in adjusting the volume in tiny steps.
Compatible with USB Audio 1.0 and 2.0
You can enable the USB audio 1.0 mode to experience decoding up to 96 kHz/24-bit PCM without needing to install any drivers.
Flexibility with the FiiO Music App
With the FiiO Music app, when connecting via Bluetooth you can adjust its channel balance, select the lowo-pass filter, control the RGB lights, and customize the power-saving shutdown timer.
