Cutting-Edge Dynamic Drivers for Unmatched Sound Clarity
The Janus3 headphones feature 10mm ultra-low distortion dynamic drivers with a lithium magnesium alloy dome composite diaphragm, co-tuned by ddHiFi and Moondrop. Experience exceptional audio fidelity that brings out the finest nuances in every song.
Versatile Connectivity: 3.5mm + 4.4mm Interchangeable Plugs
The package includes a 1.2m cable with interchangeable 3.5mm and 4.4mm plugs, allowing for maximum compatibility with your audio devices. Optional cables for USB Type-C and Lightning interfaces are also available, giving you unparalleled flexibility in how you connect and listen.
Consistency and Comfort in Design
The headphone structure features a front chamber that is sealed with the speaker, ensuring a stable acoustic environment. The CNC aluminum alloy one-piece molding process is precise up to 0.03mm, ensuring consistent frequency response curves for each pair of headphones.
Lightweight and Durable Construction
The rear chamber is constructed from high-strength transparent PC material, significantly reducing weight while maintaining durability. This also ensures that the center of gravity for the headphones is inward, making for a more comfortable and stable fit.
Advanced Diaphragm Material
The diaphragm is key to the audio performance, and the lithium-magnesium alloy dome composite diaphragm brings both high rigidity and lightness. This unique material also has excellent damping properties, enabling broader frequency bandwidth and greater detail while effectively suppressing unnecessary resonances for more natural highs.
ddHiFi Janus 3. Futurism is always in trend. Review
ddHiFi came out with their new IEMs Janus 3. Is already second one with ddHiFi that came to me for review. 2 years ago, I tried Janus 2 and I want to say that difference between these two models is simply huge
Although at first glance it may seem that these are absolutely two identical models, Janus 2 and Janus 3, but this is absolutely not the case
Janus 2 had an interesting innovation. It was not unique for market and it was, but unique in performance of ddHiFi company in particular. Namely, use of two types of mmcx and 2pin connectors
There are two types of connectors missing. And this may seem like a step backwards, but it is completely wrong. This was done deliberately and I will now tell you why
In Janus 2, no matter what connector you use, you could freely place earphone in ear in Janus 3, connector is only on one side, and it has one type, that is, you can buy either with a 2-pin connectors, or with a mmcx connectors
ddHiFi did this because they changed the geometry of sound nozzle, which is directed into ear canal. Previously, sound nozzle in Janus 2 had a right angle. Now the sound nozzle in Janus 3 is shifted at an angle relative to shell body. This made it possible to achieve a greater level of sound insulation. Improved fit in ear and, in general, increased ease of use of headphones and IEMs
This technique has been used by a large number of companies before. And this is a very correct step, because it shows that manufacturer cares about his consumer and his client
I am ready to live with one type of connector if this life is associated with higher ease of use of product
Changes in angle of sonic nozzle are not the only change and improvement of the Janus 3 compared to Janus 2
Another change is replacement of dynamic driver. That is, now Janus 3 uses a completely new dynamic driver with lithium-magnesium alloy. What led to improvement in sound, but we will talk a little later
Color of shell Janus1 and Janus 2 was Silver, color of shell Janus 3 became silver-green. It looks very stylish at first glance. This change is not noticeable. But it looks very modern. Due to change in color of shell IEMs, manufacturer changed color of eco-leather case for IEMs. Now it looks even more beautiful. Previously case was not quite silver. Possibly suitable for men. Now color of case. Mint green, it looks absolutely gorgeous
Let's talk about the most important thing, namely sound. Of course, these will be my subjective perceptions tuning Janus 3 is reminiscent of tuning Janus 2. Namely neutral natural sound
The dynamic driver has very good resolution and shows a wide range of frequencies, it copes well with the bass, demonstrates a fairly textured midrange and is beautifully developed up
IEMs cope with absolutely all styles of music, they are not picky about quality of material, but as quality of material increases accordingly, sound quality increases significantly
The bass is very collected, very fast, IEMs are not sloppy, coherent frequencies do not interfere with neighboring frequencies, sound quality, width, stage, depth, bass detailing, natural transmission of live instruments. I would say above average. This is a very high indicator for its not very high price, without forgetting about build quality of presentation and design
Neutral sound delivery allows you to listen to music in them for a very long time without experiencing negative feelings or discomfort. That is, these are universal headphones, these are headphones that can be alone in a collection and completely satisfy their owner, but again, I repeat
These are heavenly headphones. These are not high-frequency headphones for vocal lovers. These are universal headphones that cope with absolutely all styles of music and people who love honest reproduction of speech music, and or some other sounds. They will truly enjoy listening to them
I gave them to a fellow audiophile to try. I didn’t talk about my impressions about sound in advance, but he had exactly same impressions after listening to these headphones. This suggests that level of my subjective perception is perhaps somewhere close to reality, but again I am not the ultimate truth, so I am sharing what I hear myself and how I can tell about it
If I had a limited budget, or for example, I wanted to exchange some good quality headphones for a newer model of same good quality and high level. I could live with this model alone and I wouldn’t need anything else, because the sound is indeed very balanced and very good, but as audiophilia has shown, an audio enthusiast cannot but have headphones, so I recommend paying attention to them, If you buy them you definitely won’t go wrong
ddHiFi you again did a great job, for some people difference will not be noticeable, but I personally saw a lot of work compared to Janus 2. This concerns the design of colors, materials and of course sound, but we still do not forget about ergonomics. You are exactly brand that cares about convenience. And this, in turn, will only increase level of loyalty of audiophiles towards brand ddHiFi
2. Can be worn straight down and over the ear like a normal iem
3. Great overall fun sound
4. Very good bass
5. The accessories supplied is of great quality
6. The cable provided is really good
7. The case provided is really good and very pocketable
Cons: 1. The MSRP is the biggest con of this iem
2. A set of foam tips would have been nice
3. No app included
4. Treble could be spicy for some specially at higher volumes
5. Meh soundstage and imaging at this price
Introduction:-
Hey guys, today I am very excited for this review. Because its the first time I am reviewing a Ddhifi product.
I have also shared a video version of the review at YouTube any support there in form of a view, A like or A subscribe is greatly appreciated. But if you so wish to read the written version you can read this.
I was always curious about the quality of the Ddhifi products. So Today I have the Janus 3 Decoding Set or The better way to frame would be Usb C version of the Janus 3.
This was a review unit sent by Ddhifi, but all the thoughts and opinions you are about to hear are my own.
I will be as usual following my bullet style format for better readability for those who are dyslexic and in general find it hard to read long paragraphs. I follow this guide in general from the British Dyslexia Association.
Lets start the review!
Review:-
1. So the janus 3 decoding set is basically the Janus 3 iem (which is sold separately) and its paired with the M120B usb c cable (which is sold separately). So you can consider this as a dual review for the both the review of the Janus 3 and the M120B cable.
2. Well the packaging of the Janus 3 decoding set is fabulous! It has the Iem, with one set of Ddhifi ST35 eartips without the case and they are separately worth about $9 ( in my opinion one more set of tips should have been given), the fantastic case which is the Ddhifi C80 or The C90 case which in itself is sold separately for $30, The usb C cable is the M120B cable which is sold separately for $90. So the accessories in its own is worth about $129.
3. Now one thing I want to say about Ddhifi is they prefers quality and do upcharge a bit as they do built a premium product.
4. The Msrp for this Janus 3 decoding set is $150
5. Now the cable has this fantastic cylindrical shape for its usb c connector which is robust and it makes quite comfortable to use the usb c cable.
6. The iems can be worn in two ways, one like normal earphones straight down and other over the ear wrap around style like how we generally wear iems
7. This has one lithium magnesium alloy dome composite dynamic driver.
8. They are very comfortable to wear both straight down and wrap around style
9. The microphonics of the cable is almost none when it is worn wrap around style
10. But they do have quite a bit of microphonics when worn straight down.
11. The cable has integrated its mic within the splitter rather than letting it dangle on one side like most iems with mic, which i think is very nice and smart
12. Mic test is given at timestamp 2:25 on my YouTube video
Any support to me by subscribing to my channel is greatly appreciated
13. The sound coming out of this I can say is harman tuned but with a tad bit more bass than harman. You could also characterise it as a V tune too.
14. Overall the sound coming of it is very fun and very engaging
15. I used my usual set of sources for my review.
16. The sub-bass has good rumble and punch, when listening to songs like waltz by sunny it had awesome sub-bass rumble and punch.
17. The mid-bass too doesn’t stay far behind and it too has a good amount of bite and body which goes very well with the sub-bass
18. The mid-bass does occasionally bleeds into the mids. Depending on the genre of songs you listen too you might like this or not.
19. The Mids as usual in harman is slightly recessed behind everyone else
20. The Male vocals sits behind as usual, but they have good texture and body this is apparent when listening to chris cornell and bill withers.
21. Female vocals too are very good, but it could be a bit much for people who do not like shrilly upper mids. In some songs at higher volume it could be a bit much for some. Although I personally was fine with it.
22. The treble here is very good! It surprised me as to how good it was
23. It was detailed and airy and songs from casiopeas 1985 live album was awesome.
24. Now the notes of the treble are a bit sharp so certain songs when there is a lot going on it could be a bit uneven or could be a bit peaky. But the again this happens at very higher volumes for me and at low volumes it stays fine
25. The soundstage here is quite meh as they found a sphere around your head, now this is nice for people for those who like it. I personally like a wider soundstage.
26. The imaging is ok nothing great at the price, and the left to right transition were average for the price.
27. The M120B usb c cable has the Realtek audio chip and supports upto 384khz in the usb c mode and upto 48khz in the lightning version
28. There is a single button which can pick and reject calls and play and pause the audio.
29. Sadly a usb c to usb a converter isn't included in the box. Would have been nice if it was there.
30. So yeah to conclude the review, I do think for the price it does make a good enough purchase. As you know ddhifi does charge a bit more than its competition but the quality of the product is really good.
31. I think so the $149 is a bit of stretch here, if this was priced at around lets say 100-110, this would be an awesome iem in my opinion and I would suggest this iem if you want a no frills usb c iem.
32. By the way the cable and iem here is mmcx and it can be used with other iems too.
32. The pricing is the only thing which is the negative I can find.
33. That was my review of the Ddhifi Janus 3 Decoding Set + M120B cable, I hope you liked, Thanks for stopping by!
If you have any questions please feel free to ask me and also if you have any issues regarding this format of review please do comment I will try to mend it. Also sorry to those who are used to reading long paragraphs of review in headfi. I hope my review was upto the mark, I appreciate any feedback.
Again a big thanks to DDHIFI for making this review possible.
Pros: Well made and well accessorised
Timbre is natural enough
Sub bass rumble is quite prominent although not basshead kind of level
Cons: Lower mids are slightly recessed
Upper mids can be a little too much for some (i personally am okay with it, so it all boils down to the individual's tolerance)
General/Packaging/Build/Comfort
I have tested various ddHifi products, most of the time is the dongle, cables and adapters, i have heard of the brand’s IEM Janus back then but there isn’t any opportunity to test it out, fast forward to today, i have the Janus 3 with me, as expected from the brand itself, the build quality is solid, a half see through shell with mmcx connection, some seems to have a love hate relationship with mmcx, i personally am okay with either 2 pin or mmcx, but if i were to pick one, because i cable roll quite often mmcx will be a better choice although it does spin like a “helicopter” after some time, but it will not be unplugged from the IEM itself like 2 pin connection when it is loose.
As with other ddHifi products, the packaging is solid and the unboxing experience is very positive, this time around, they have decided to use “waifu” on their packaging. The bundled accessories are very good in my opinion, a hard storage case, three sizes of the ST35 eartips, a very solid modular cable (3.5,4.4,2.5), the cable itself is very soft and does not tangle up, very minor to no microphonics.
In terms of comfort, i have no fit issue with it and they literally just disappears in your ears when you are wearing them, the cable itself is very very soft as i have mentioned and it does not seem to be pulling down/weighing down the IEM which is very good, you can either wear it straight down or over the ear if you prefer.

Sound
I would describe the Janus 3 as having a harman derived tuning as when I unbox it, it does mention that the Janus 3 is co-tuned with Moondrop. Depending on whether you like harman derived tuning or not, it can be enjoyable/bad depending on preference. I personally am enjoying Janus 3, tonality is not too cool/nor warm sounding, timbre sounds quite natural to my ears, after all, Janus 3 is a single DD IEM.
Bass:
Sub bass has got good rumble and extension, but to my ears,it is nowhere near basshead level
Mid bass has got good thump and punch,it does occasionally bleeds into the mids as it is not fast enough during complex track
The bass’s texture is quite decent for the asking price
Mids:
The mid is slightly recessed
Vocal positioning is slightly laid back and definitely not intimate
Male vocal has got good texture and doesn’t sound thin at all
Female vocal sounds thicker than male,Adele and Kate Bush sounds fantastic on this due to the slight upper mids boost
Using the Janus 3 with Spiral Dots eartips, the mids are slightly pushed forward and the mids sounds a little fuller overall
Highs:
The treble is energetic but never sibilant or harsh, i wouldn’t say its smooth as that would mean the Janus 3 is warm sounding
With the Spiral Dots eartips, the treble is smooth, for those who are sensitive to treble, perhaps can try it with this eartip
It has good extension and detail retrieval is average, some details are hard to pick up but this is purely nitpicking especially at this price point
Soundstage/Imaging
Choices of eartip will affects the perceived soundstage fyi, using the stock ST35 eartip, the soundstage is quite in your head, just slightly out of your head in terms of width, i am using it with the JVC Spiral Dots and it does open up the soundstage a little, better depth, width and height perception
Imaging is good enough for the price, instruments can be picked up easily, but it does struggle a little when playing back complex track such as Slipknot’s Duality
Driveability
Very easy to drive, decent volume out of smartphone’s 3.5mm jack
Doesn’t benefit much from amping
Does scale with better source in terms of soundstage reproduction, bass and treble control
Dongles such as the TC35 Pro Eye 2 has more than enough power to drive the Janus 3, so, if you have any other dongle which is around the price point, you’ll be fine
Final Thoughts
Having tested and listened to Janus 3 for several weeks, do I think they’re competitive or relevant at the asking price? It depends on how you’re looking at it, my opinion is that, Janus 3 is not a set that’s focused on technicalities, for those who are looking to listen critically, Janus 3 is not for you, however, if you are someone who just want to listen to your music and not care about the technicalities, Janus 3 is something that you can consider, am i saying the Janus 3 is bad? Not at all, sure, it does not have top tier technicalities, but once you start listening to it, i’m sure you’ll be tapping your foot along with the rhythm, after all, this is what matters the most when we’re listening to music isn’t it?
Janus 3 is sent over by ddHifi for the purpose of this review. I thank them for the opportunity as always.
