Best audio stack money can buy
Pros: All
Cons: Lacks a little "plankton" compare to some good tube amps
So it has been a few months since I bought the Zen dac Signature. Today I have just got the Zen can 6xx. It looks gorgeous in reality.
I connect the dac to the amp via 4.4 to 4.4 balanced cable and use a 4.4 to mini xlr cable with my LCD2 rev2. Here is my quick impression of the Ifi zen 6xx combo (the Zen dac sig is on firmware 5.3c)
1. It have a sweet sound. There is no glare or distortion that makes me irritated (like the sounds from almost Schiit stacks I owned)
2. Though the bass is delicious and full on the 6xx eq setting there is no claustrophobic feeling (again compared to many Schiit recent amps)
3. The eq functions were done gracefully and thoughtfully. They are not like useless gimmicks for selling purpose or are overdone. I really like using those eq presets a lot
4. I got the emotion and desire to listen to one more song and one more song..
5. The amp is quite hot after about 1 hour continuously working. And it isn’t like some other reviews I have read, there is no sense of lacking power or clipping or whatever. I use the highest gain (18db) and think it sounds the best. My volume knob indicator hasn’t never passed 10:00 position paired with my 70ohm LCD2 rev2 and the dac is on fixed mode.
Conclusion: I really like my Zen sig combo. I think I can use it for many years without the longing for the next upgrade. I am listening to the combo for more than 2 hours and typing this impression. I haven’t found any cons of it yet. A joyful listening of many of my fav songs with different genres and languages. If nitpicking I wish the Zen sig combo have a little more plankton in its sound so that it will have a more tangible and real and natural sounding. But it is nowhere close to be as simple or "too clean" or boring or harmonic-erased as on some trendy chip-based amps or dongles.
Sorry for my English and let enjoy!

Pros: Very clean sound. Beautiful and abundant custom themes and UIs. The player's design
Cons: Thin, cold and lifeless sound. Bass is shallow , sibilant mids. EQ makes sound even worse than the default (mainly squeeze the mid-range)
Hi,
I used the J3 with vsonic gr07, sony ex1000 and don't think it is a very good sounding PMP.

Pros: Fast, bass+treble enhanced, detailed
Cons: Midrange is slightly lean, slightly strained treble
Headphone: LCD-2 rev2
Comparition amp: Schitt Asgard v1
I can't tell how much i love my new Schiit amp - the Mjolnir.
However, i remember the mids on my LCD-2 was more thick and blooming previously IMO.
Maybe it causes by adding a bulk of quality and quantity into 2 top-end regions.
And i also feel there is a little stretching in high regions. You know, it is as a singer trying to sing very high notes but it is not her strength (obviously not Mariah Carey ^^! )
She can still perform OK, but you will feel it is slightly overdoes and not natural.

But to those who want the Audeze house sound to be less 'dark'. I think it would not be a big deal. And i still love my beloved LCD-2's change to death :D
5 stars satisfaction purchase!!!

Pros: Too much, see below..
Cons: Silghtly distant mids, Requires a powerful amp to sound all of its best, crap build of newest stock cable (adz6), comfort issue for long listening session
Pros of Audeze LCD-2 R2:
1. Midrange (natural, detail, seduction..->phenomenal mids makes even harshest rock or terrible mordern electronic pop sound super smooth and emotional/touchy but still full of energy)
2. Treble (oudstanding quality and natural treble, slightly lacks the quantity though)
3.Bass (Very detailed, fast, tight and powerful bass. Although I know it will be hard to implement this for such an open and top-tier hi-fi headphone, BUT a little more kick, impact, solid at mid-bass and bigger amount at sub-bass would become perfect
bigsmile_face.gif
)
4. Good design and material (excepts the stock cable and tough pads)
Compared headphones: few Denon, Beyer, grado, Sony fullsize models, jvc, sony, westone..iems

Pros: Decent treble, decent mids, decent bass, detail, nice looking
Cons: Noise issue, nothing is unique at all...
If i rate the W4 is 10/10, Xba-4 is 8/10. The W4s are Ok at every expect but lie down a setback note from the W4s ability. Only one thing which the Xba-4 is better than the W4 that is: the Xba do not have the zz zzz sibilance sound..
The biggest issue on this new Sony flagship iem is having a freak noise when playing music and the smaller one is no-unique sound signature.

Pros: Very clear and smooth sound; deepest, fullest and most solid bass ever heard in the iem world, soundstage, luxury looking..
Cons: Plastic fake treble, none-detail sound, super overwhelm bass issue, color sound..
Well, i am a bass-addict and though the bass on this JVC's flagship iem is really outstanding, i really can not love it unless i am considering this bass separately. Yeah, it will be the most iem's subwoofer-likeness bass if it is standing alone. But in this case of the FX700s, the bass affects too much at the mids once you listen to a (semi)heavy bass song. For example: jpop, kpop, hiphop, dance and even R&B =.=
Besides, the general sound of the FX700 is too thick, too color (not dark though) and seriously lack of the detail in the mids, esp in the treble and having a plastic treble like that is existing on almost models of the Denon's sound signature.

Pros: Very forward and liquid mids, wonderful quality and quantity of treble(special, one of the best detailed and airy iem(special), solid bass, good build
Cons: slightly lack of low mids and mid-bass, bass could be more detailed&faster, uncomfortable to wear, cacophonous for some, too emphasis on high-mids

Comparing the EX1000 against the A1000 is comparing apples to oranges. Not a fair comparison, as far as I'm concerned, though some may disagree. Where strictly IEM's are concerned, the EX1000 has one of the most proficient lower ends. In fact, much of it owes to the lack of a midbass hump, as a midbass hump, more often than not, compromises the lower mids. I'm sure glad the EX1000 is free from said hump, by even the slightest. If it's a faster, more detailed low end you're after, however, you may be more inclined towards BA's. The PFE232 is a great example.
P.S. Your English is fine. :)

@ Night Crawler: Thank you for your comment and the last language praise=)
Seems it is quite silly when compare the Denons bass to the studio/audiophile headphones bass but it is just my expansion addition. i just want to say: the bass on the Ex1ks is good, but not their outstanding power such as their mids and treble. especially while it is compared to the W4s(full(mid+low synthetic), speedy bass) and Gr07s(deep and solid bass):D
p/s:pfe 232s are so expensive, but i think they will be similar to triple or quad amature driver iems, right?

@Conrthomas:it is Vietnam:wink: China headphones in my country are often cheaper than them sold in US. Besides, i bought this very good iem at the 1st Gr07 shipment of an audio company

and i'm sorry about my bad English cuz i from Vietnam. So , i will make my 1st review as short as possible in order to avoid the vast of error grammars that always occur every time i try to write a refined long english passage :d
I have previously owned a pair of Vsonic Gr07,the Bose in-ear and listend to the Beats Solo by Dr. Dre On-Ear, the yuin pk2s and the soundmagic pl30s. Seriously, it is not fair to compare a IEM vs a fullsize(Denon a100 is portable-fullsize thought) but i feel the Beat solo even don't come close my GR07, so i think using only the gr07s which is the best in my experiences and gotten a lot of praises in the forum is a good thing to describe how the A100s sound. The A100s are over the GR07s in almost aspects: they are much much detailer, fuller, more fun with deeper and solider bass, the treble is laidback compare to the shrill treble on GR07(i just detected this after sticked to A100 instead of GR07 for several days), the soundtage and 3D image is really great too(i know it is fullsize's powers
biggrin.gif
), the isolation ability on par with GR07. The only thing that GR07 win in this battle maybe MID. When i listened to few songs of Mariah Carey, i realized something missing and i don't have the emotion "creepy satisfaction" like having on GR07, it because A100 have the Mariah's voice is smaller and comes from further place. We know the GR07s 's mid is wonderful and forward (i race GR07 30% bass, 40%mid 30% treble on SQ) and Denon's style is slightly V-shape then we are easy to understand this issue. Finnaly, i put 4. 5 stars at audio quality to this Denon 100th anniversary headphone and i think they worth any pennies of mine.
