Pros: warm, enjoyable, maybe even a long-term keeper
Cons: although very pleasing, I didn't have any "oh wow!!" type of moments so far. Glad I didn't pay full price :)
Lyra II

First impressions...
Love the look, the feel, the size
Fit comfortably in my ears
Sound good out of the box no warm up time.

Compared to Comet...
Ah, the bass while not deep is still so satisfying
Yes, definitely a more analog feeling/sound, although by no means do these make me think any less of my beloved Comets.

Compared to Jupiter...
I can see why people say the Lyra II is more musical compared to the Jupiters being more analytical. I have to say I wasn't a big fan of the Jupiter. I even preferred the Comet over the Jupiter (especially when you factor in the price).

These Lrya II's are pretty spot on to what I imagined they would sound like after reading the reviews. This surprised me a little because usually when I read headphone reviews before listening... they end up sounding different than what I imagined.

Upgraditus is kicking in already... even though I'm pleased and plan to enjoy these Lyra II's, I am wondering how the Andromeda and Atlas sound (think I'll pass on the Vegas as I have read they can be a touch strident, and that is definitely something I would be sensitive to).

Miles Davis (Kind of Blue album) is actually enjoyable and listenable on these Lyra II's .. wasn't enjoyable on the Comet or Jupiter.

Nice review! I am listening with my Lyra II, as I type this, and I just recently got some new tips. The tips, that I just put on, are the Azla Sedna ear fit, and now everything I did not really care for sound wise is gone. These tips just took the Lyra II, to another level, and I am again content. . .If you are not happy with your iem, do some tip changing.

100+ Head-Fier
Pros: Shorter headphone cable perfect for plugging into my laptop and phone

Bass is fuller than HD650 and HD600 (from what I remember)

Lightweight

Minimal/Simple design
Cons: Nothing.... not at this price... even if it was double the price I really wouldn't have anything negative to say.
I started in the headphone game with an HD650....

Heckuva lot of money for my first "real" headphone... I enjoyed it, but would have been happier if the HD58x was available back then (2010)...

Why? Because the HD58x is so easy to drive... right out of my laptop/phone works just fine!

SUMMARY:

The reviews were not overhyped... they are not "amazing"... they just sound GREAT.... like I remember my HD650 sounding... except this time I don't have to have the cumbersome/expensive amp taking up space next to my computer.

I'll probably be using these long-term... for anything/everything from movies, music, youtube, podcasts, etc...

Pros: Great Looking DJ headphones, quality feel, non-piercing highs make it great for loud volume
Cons: scratches show up in finish if not careful, not for audiophile listening
(note: pictures included are not mine, I grabbed them from the net to make the article easier to read)

I've had these for well over a year and used them at least 5 days-a-week during that time...

I work at a radio station, and used these on-air daily, as well as for production use...

For a while I used these at home for music listening, which they are more than fine for....  but ultimately I ended up just keeping them at work.

No need for me to give you a review on the sound as there are plenty of great reviews already that hit the mark perfectly in describing the sound.

Wonderfully comfortable, and easily the best looking DJ headphone on the market (it doesn't look like a toy, yet doesn't look overly studio-ish)...

And look at the "extras" that Sennheiser includes... amazing when you consider that the HD25's come with almost nothing...

My one regret is buying these when they first came out...

because I ended up paying FULL PRICE (lesson learned: I'll wait a year until the hype on a headphone dies down before making a move lol)

Thanks for letting me share my audio journey with you :)
