Bluetooth high end IEMs?
So is the lack of response indicator of a lack of products in this range? Maybe it will take a few more years... I have two reasons for moving to bluetooth. One, that cords are a PITA when walking around and phones are just too big to have a rigid plug protruding out further. Secondly...- jvgig

Bluetooth high end IEMs?
I am looking for a high end bluetooth IEM, but am struggling to find a pair with high marks on audio quality. In the higher end market, I have run across a lot of Jabra and Jaybird models, as well as some recent introductions by Denon, JBL, and Klipsch. However, when they mention audio quality...- jvgig

Bluetooth/Portable speaker recommendations
My new apartment has bunch of rooftop amenities like a pool, bocce court, grill, yoga studio, etc. They are great, but working out, hanging in the pool, and BBQing without music are a disappointment. Surprisingly there are never many/any people up there so I do not feel bad broadcasting my...- jvgig

High pitched hissing out of one speaker conundrum
I have done some more trouble shooting. I have unplugged all fans, all extra hard drives, DVD drive, removed every PCI/PCI-E card except 1 graphics card, cycled through every RAM configuration (3 sticks, 6 slots) and unplugged every non essential USB device. I have 2 graphics cards in my...- jvgig

High pitched hissing out of one speaker conundrum
I have a pair of Adam A7x hooked up to my computer's Asus Xonar STX with RCA cables. Out of one speaker's tweeter, I am getting a high pitched noise, even with no input signal. It is particularly odd because the other speaker does not do this, even when I switch the RCA L/R cables. I then...- jvgig

Media PC Build, silent, passive
I am almost always on my main workstation while listening to music and, needless to say, its a beast with 7 fans and 6 hard drives whirling and buzzing about. I am thinking of building a dedicated media PC to play ripped blurays and my music library so I can listen in piece when not working. I...- jvgig

Commuter IEMs
I have beem using Etymotic Research ER4S for the past 4 years and have been very hAppy with the sound and isolation. So mush so that I would never consider getting on a flight without them. Unfortunately after about 50 flights this past year I finally managed to take them out for a minute and...- jvgig

HD600 buzzing/crackling on old recordings
I just got a pair of HD600 for Christmas and have been thoroughly enjoying them, except for one little thing. I have been noticing a tinny buzzy/crackly sound in my left ear. I only notice it during quiet technical sections of old (1960's and earlier) recordings. I have been listening to...- jvgig

dac options
I am starting the research for my upcoming build before I head off to college. In terms of audio, there are no cut and dry performance charts like there are for everything else, so here I am. I listen to music mostly though headphones, but I still want to retain the ability to output to a...- jvgig

Classical Music
I am in a similar situation and currently torn between the er4(p/s) and the triple fi. While the er4(p/s) seems to get fairly consistent overall praise as the classical iem of choice, the triple fi is regarded as no slouch either. I use flac fed by my computer or cowon d2. Either way, my...- jvgig

Foobar Playback Settings
Is it possible to have Foobar do a Shuffle (tracks) playback of only certain genres or other category without making different play lists for each one? For example, if I want to play everything except jazz, or if I only wanted to play party friendly music genres. Thanks- jvgig

Cue files in Foobar
How do you embed the cue? There seems to be some software that use can use, but I am not having much luck. Not all of my collection is done this way, so I cannot just say to ignore every flac.- jvgig

Why is sound quality subjective?
The discussion is not one of which subjectively "sounds better", but how close are the physical quantities to those of the original. Accuracy can be measured, "better" cannot. I think that high end recording studios would have to assume that the listener would have the ideal listening...- jvgig

Cue files in Foobar
I have some of my cds ripped to a single audio file and a cue sheet to make file organization easier; however, in Foobar, I now see the files determined by the cue and the large album file which I do not want to see. How do I set it up so that if there is a cue file, the source file does not...- jvgig

For the "Anti-EQ" audiophile...
I agree with What? The comparison to restaurants is interesting. Personally, I find that at less expensive restaurants there is usually an assortment of spices and sauces at the table to "customize" your food with. However, if you go to an expensive restaurant with an accomplished cooking...- jvgig

Why is sound quality subjective?
It is true that different people have physical differences that marginally affect the sound they hear; however, the same sound waves hit that person as they would if a different person were in the same location, so it should be possible to record an audio performance for human listening that is...- jvgig

Why is sound quality subjective?
I agree that it really does not really matter for listening to music, but in science, I think it would be important to be able to recreate certain sonic properties in a space. I do not know how feasible that is, but assuming that something can be reproduced to 99.999%, 98%, whatever, wouldn't...- jvgig

Why is sound quality subjective?
I cannot seem to figure out why sound quality is viewed as a subjective thing. The goal is to reproduce an audible event without having to be at the location at the same time that it is being produced. At the location that the event took place, the sound waves passed through a point (mic, ears)...- jvgig

What's matter? Can't they make decent size HD player anymore?
Most people do not even understand how it is possible to exceed 50gb. Many of my classmates do not even believe me when discussing our libraries and I chime in saying that I currently have over 160gb. With a large portion of the portable music market going to people who listen to 128mbps mp3s...- jvgig

Flash based DAP with LOD other than IPOD?
I just figured that some company would figure out that that would produce a really nice unit, especially since the technology is all readily available and one would think not too terribly difficult to implement. I guess I will just have to wait and hope that they figure it out for next year's...- jvgig
