Earbuds Round-Up
I received the Yinman 600 around a week ago and I understand why it's loved so much, the bass is pretty incredible even compared to the FF3. Thankfully it doesn't suffer from vocal distortion in bass heavy tracks like the FF3 does. I haven't spent a lot of time listening to it as the DB1e has...- trevdawg94

Don't worry about doing that, just thought if you knew off the top of your head that it would help narrow down which one I want to build next. That's a good point, are there any posts about how different parts such as adhesive foams and tuning papers affect sound? Or does it just depend mostly...- trevdawg94

With how much I've been travelling for doctor's appointments lately I've been on the lookout for carrying cases to protect my earbuds while travelling. I had been wanting to build a set for a while but the biggest hurdle was picking out the parts to use. The descriptions of how the Artiste Nightingale sounded are what pushed me to finally take the plunge and I'm glad I did. Do you have any similar comparisons for the other DIY builds you've...- trevdawg94

I finally got all of the parts to build the Artiste Nightingale by @mt877 and though I've only listened to it for a little bit I can already tell that I like what I hear. I'm going to listen to it for a while before I give my thoughts on it but I haven't been disappointed so far, thank you so...- trevdawg94

After listening to the DB1E for several hours I'm starting to understand why so many people love the LBBS. While the treble can be a little harsh and overbearing with some songs for the most part it's clear, detailed, and smooth without being compromised by boosting the bass a decent amount...- trevdawg94

I've struggled a little with keeping them in place as well, I tried stacking foams the same way you did but it made the fit and sound quality worse for me. I think a big part of it is the stock cable's heatshrink is too flimsy and flexible so it doesn't hold them in place very well. I think a...- trevdawg94

You're right, if you zoom in on the stem there's a hole drilled next to where the red ring is on what I'm guessing is the right earbud. I don't see one on the left earbud but it's probably on the other side so both holes are pointing backward if worn cable down. Very interesting design, I wonder...- trevdawg94

That has one of the most unique stem designs I've seen, it looks like the plastic piece that holds the cable is possibly adjustable up and down? It would make wearing them over ear much easier which is one of my main hesitations about getting the Chaconne. I wouldn't be surprised if the sound...- trevdawg94

Here's a link to the OpenHeart Nightingale, you might not be finding it through search since it's not called the Nightingale in the product title but it does list that name in the product description. If that link doesn't work you could try ordering the LCP version of this earbud from XinYue...- trevdawg94

Thanks for your concern, I appreciate it. That's good to hear, sometimes I'm a little off my rocker when I don't feel well lol. _insert apology here_ No worries, I was willing to take the risk based on what I've read about it so don't worry about feeling like you didn't give the whole picture...- trevdawg94

I'm not by any means, I just figured it would be a good place to start since each brand seems to have a preferred sound signature. I have looked at reviews for several of their earbuds but I wasn't sure how they compared to newer options since most of the reviews are over six years old at this...- trevdawg94

Does Toneking have any earbuds that are somewhere between the TP16 and Green Mamba? I just got the TP16 and while I like the sound it doesn't have as wide of a soundstage as I would like but I don't want to go overboard with something like the Green Mamba. The Unicorn looks interesting but I...- trevdawg94

FIIO Q15 DAC and Headphone Amplifier Discussion & Impressions Thread
I agree that the Mojo2 has amazing EQ but it's in a completely different price bracket and doesn't have built-in Bluetooth which as much as it pains me to say it I prefer for mobile use over dealing with a dongle DAC plugged into my phone. USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
Just had it happen again, it's not time related as I had just plugged it into my phone but the music was paused. I did have a Bluetooth audio device connected to my phone as well but I don't think that was the case the first time. Double checked the volume before pressing play and it was set...- trevdawg94

FIIO Q15 DAC and Headphone Amplifier Discussion & Impressions Thread
That's what I was seeing as well, as much as it's a headline feature of this DAC/amp if it doesn't work well I'd rather not have (and pay for) it at all. You would think Fiio could have a functional EQ by now but I had similar issues with my BTR5 so it's not great to see they're still struggling...- trevdawg94

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
It's not great to hear that I'm not the only one who's experience problems, are there any other major issues people have had with the M1P? I tried searching to see if anyone else had this issue or if it was a one-off but Head-Fi's search isn't that great.- trevdawg94

Just a PSA to anyone considering buying Colorfly's CDA-M1P, don't leave it connected to your device with music paused for more than a couple of minutes. I left mine that way for maybe 5-10 minutes and when I came back and pressed play I heard a horrible screech that sounded like a modern fire...- trevdawg94

FIIO Q15 DAC and Headphone Amplifier Discussion & Impressions Thread
How is the experience of using the Q15 on the latest firmware? I've seen some mixed messages on whether most of the issues are fixed now or not, and it's not confidence inspiring to see people having bricked units after updating to the latest firmware. I'm trying to decide between it and the...- trevdawg94

I don't have the Viridis but I've read that it's a mids and treble monster at the expense of bass and overall harshness. If you're looking at the Viridis you know what you want, but if you haven't heard of it before it's probably not for you. The Calf is a much more well-rounded earbud with...- trevdawg94

Apologies upfront for any mispellings or anything that isn't coherent, my health took a nosedive the past few days. The TWS + Neckband + BT Cable Adapter Thread
If I didn't already have a spare from the 11.11 sale I would buy it from you in a heartbeat. Sad to hear that you're not interested in adapters anymore, but I also understand as you won't get as good of sound quality or as much power as even smaller portable DAC/amps like the 5K. The TWS + Neckband + BT Cable Adapter Thread
How does the sound compare to Fiio's UTWS3? They seem to have similar features and codec support but the Shure is double the price and possibly missing a dedicated amp. Also how is charging, do they have any issues like Fiio's adapters have? I see some people with a similar problems in reviews...- trevdawg94

The TWS + Neckband + BT Cable Adapter Thread
I had two of the AZ09 Pro, the first set completely stopped working and the light started rapidly flashing on the left adapter so I'm guessing the firmware is corrupted. The second one had issues as well but I haven't used it for so long I don't remember what they were though it does still work...- trevdawg94
