Agree, I can listen to all tunings without having to pull them out of my ears. But definitely brighter and more detailed with blue modules and vocal switch forward for me. Source does factor. It’s a great IEM, with options 👍🏻👍🏻- hawgrider

Interesting post. I’m very much aware we all hear differently, but your post drives home how intricate those differences can be. I’m sensitive to energetic mids. Agree that GM mids don’t sound recessed to me, and in fact quite prominent with blue module and switch forward. (Bearing in mind CIEM...- hawgrider

Unlikely the blue module would be offered in another color. Because of the tuning aspect of each module that could become confusing. You could ask FF directly if they would do a one off in a different colour for a Custom set. 🤷🏻♂️- hawgrider

I have GM CIEM (had universal prior) And I have Volur. In no hurry to part with either, but, if push came to shove, Volur would be on the block. Of course, ask 10 other people, and you get 10 different opinions. Side note: waited 6 months for my GM CIEM, so delivery is twice as fast now. 👍🏻😂- hawgrider

I suspect it is doable, not sure an iem manufacture would agree to do it. Might not be worth their time to tear down the CIEM just for the sake of re-using the drivers. Can’t hurt to inquire.- hawgrider

Was curious about the cable that came with my GM CIEM. Checked the website. Mind shipped with the upgraded modular gold plated silver cable. Silver cable could certainly enhance upper mids/highs. Just wanted to point that out. Something for you to consider if yours comes with different...- hawgrider

Hard to say for certain, I sold my universals 6 months ago to help finance the CIEM, so can’t A/B, and hate to go on memory. But I’m going to lean toward mids because I am sensitive to pinna gain peaks more so than peaks in the treble regions. The cable is different than OG, and I haven’t...- hawgrider

I find my new version CiEM a bit brighter than the OG universal. I use the black module, vocal switch forward. On the OG I was using the blue nozzle and switching back and forth between vocal on/off But there are differences on my set other than just the new metal modules. Custom shell is...- hawgrider

Open. Your ear canals expand slightly when your mouth is open. Taking impressions with mouth open will give a slightly tighter fit, maintaining the seal if you open your mouth. This originates from singers who have their mouths open while performing and need to maintain the seal. I have done...- hawgrider

I ordered at a time when I believe (not officially confirmed) FatFreq was experiencing a “growth spurt”, and they were also implementing changes to the universal version, which carried through to the customs. The six month wait was tough, but I’m happy that my set is built to the new standard...- hawgrider

My GM CIEM arrived today. Ordered June 4 2023, arrived Dec 4 2023. 6 months to the day. I know they were held up longer than normal due to the changes being implemented on the universal version. I checked them over thoroughly, no indication of any QC issues. Module ports are perfect. Hopefully...- hawgrider

Don’t like to hear of this kind of experience, but thanks for sharing, it’s good to be aware. Was your set one of the OG units (plastic tuning modules) or the revamped model with metal modules?- hawgrider

My GM CIEM are finally in transit to me. Close to 6 months. Part of the delay was the refinements they made to the universal, my customs will be fully up to date, so I’m glad they delayed the build. Hopefully you won’t have to wait long.- hawgrider
