The discovery thread!
Are you using the stock tips for the Trio? For me I’ve been using the tips below with 1010 switch setting to give me a bit better sparkle.- RetroE83

I’ve been eying the AS24 as well, since as you said the switches seem to do more. I’ll have to give the Symphony a try if it’s discounted in the future. Graphs did not line up with my subjective impressions a few times (e.g. Lafitear LM1 - 1 DD, 1 MST/EST - major treble peaks)- RetroE83

From memory, the Joyodio VZ10 was not well received in older YouTube reviews from Akros and Paul Wasabii. At the time of its release I was tempted, but didn’t like the look of the published graphs and YT reviewer impressions. IMO, X number of switches are pointless if they don’t drastically...- RetroE83

Maybe you can initially upload the sound clips without labelling which is which (Single DD and Full Config). It would be nice to see if anyone can tell a difference. I’d like to think I can hear 10% volume of BA and M-stat, but I won’t delude myself - my hearing isn’t the greatest.- RetroE83

On the topic ZEX Pro/KZ x CRN, I had some good results with CCA FLA ear tips recently as opposed to my previous recommendation of using triple flange ear tips (which I gave up on because of the discomfort) MiniDSP EARS measurement:- RetroE83

ZEX Pro was a turning point for KZ imo. For better or for worse, it’s what got them to seriously tune by the curve imo. If I recall Crin got them to change their measuring rigs, stating at the time they were dated. For what they did with the ZEX Pro, I commend them; I like the treble on these...- RetroE83

Maybe the ZS10 Pro 2 is an improved ZAT at lower price and + 2 BAs. I say this because that upper treble on their published ZS10 Pro 2 graph reminded me of the ZAT’s.- RetroE83

The treble on my ZES has a fizzy sound (MST?) to it which I like; it doesn’t have that metallic timbre I hear on KZ single DDs. I’m using 7Hz Salnotes long nozzle, narrow barrow ear tips. It has more treble imo than my LZ A7 with red nozzle with JVC spiral dot tips and 1st switch up.- RetroE83

If I’m correct, you usually don’t like overly forward mids/shouty mids on your iems. Is this the case with the AS24, or is there a switch setting that mitigates this? Thanks! On a side note, I did buy the KZ ZES a while back based on your opinion that it was a very poor man’s IER-Z1R :p- RetroE83

I have it. It’s a good complement to my EW200. I noticed you have that one as well. I also have the Moondrop KXXS; I think the soundstage is wider and maybe slightly deeper/similar on the ZSN Pro 2. Even though the graphs out there indicate bass overall should be more on the ZSN Pro 2, it has...- RetroE83

I found that the Nova and Trio (1010 setting) sound very similar when both are using 7Hz long nozzle, small bore ear tips. I like the laidback treble and tonality of the Nova, and the midrange clarity and imaging of the Trio (1010 setting). I find both a good complement to each other - I use...- RetroE83

Female and male vocals sound correct imo - I listen to mostly 80s Citypop, recent Indie Rock tracks: clear, full bodied, not sibilant, not nasal sounding. On a side note, the bass is much more cleaner and controlled compared to the EDX Ultra ( and my CCA CRA+with Spiral Dots - not graphed)...- RetroE83

So far I think the EDX Pro X is an upgrade in terms of treble presentation compared to EDX Ultra both using JVC Spiral Dot Eartips: not grainy, metallic, sufficient air and sparkle, not as biting- RetroE83
