Just been setting up my modest K22, running into Bricasti M21 DAC. After much fiddling with different configurations I have settled on Squeeze Player/Roon Server and AES to DAC as all-round best compromise. While USB using a Network Audio cable sounded good, it would not use Native DSD and made...- sarnhelen

Can you be more specific about the USB-Network dongle? I see no reference to this on T+A site.- sarnhelen

HiBy RS6 Android DAP - Snapdragon 660, 4+64GB, 5” full HD, Darwin R2R, FIR, NOS, MQA 16x, copper chassis
This DAP is wonderful when it works, but I give up. Here I am again with a blank screen, a blue LED. When I reset, blue light goes out for a couple of seconds then comes on again, blank screen again. More than half the time when I try to fire it up, I get this behaviour. It has always been...- sarnhelen

What's the best USB audio cable for the money?
Seconded. The only USB cable I've used that has obviously and dramatically improved sound, rather than producing minor differences (Audience, Curious, Inakustik). Well worth the high price.- sarnhelen

Reply to review by 'sarnhelen' on item 'HiBy RS6'
Thanks for the tip about USB Audio Pro which greatly enhances my experience with this already terrific DAC. Navigating 1TB of music becomes so easy and intuitive. Although I bought the HiBy to use with IEMs I'm delighted by its performance with the Meze Elites on high power/4.4mm.- sarnhelen

You just have to be patient. I cleared my cache several times, no success, walked away and pretended to ignore the little toerag, then took it by surprise and the update suddenly worked.- sarnhelen

MEZE AUDIO ELITE - The New Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone - official thread
I made the decision for the Elite at Axpona, but it was difficult between these two - I was able to listen to the Elite on LTA amp - I have the LTA MZ3 - and to compare with the Audeze LC-5 - no contest; and when the LTA guy asked which I preferred, he responded That's what I think too. The...- sarnhelen

Great review. That's what I wanted, a comparison with the Verité. As a jazz listener predominantly, I'll stick with Verité. Saved me a bundle!- sarnhelen

SONY NW-ZX500
After long hesitating over the price of admission, I bought a 64 Audio U12t with Effect Cleopatra cable, and paired with the 507 I really can't think a portable rig could be any better - have to force myself to take these things out of my ears and re-enter the grey world of day... The sound is...- sarnhelen

Sony WF-1000XM4 Impressions Thread
Like several here I was initially disappointed with these. Because I'm dumb I hadn't used the 'Determines optimal earbud tips' option in the Headphones menu, and then I didn't know how to use it beyond comparing and learning that the large tips were better than medium for me, which was obvious...- sarnhelen

Woo Audio WA11 Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV
Thank you. Yes, I do use the 4.4mm, with exclusive access and have turned off the upsampling, and it all sounds wonderful now, although the Hi setting won't work for Z1Rs - owing to their sensitivity, volume has to be set to the tiniest advance on zero, and any slightest nudge blasts my...- sarnhelen

Cascade Headphone by Campfire Audio
No, I don't have that. I haven't enjoyed iFi dacs in the past and was torn between a Topaz and a Diablo, but didn't want MQA and did want USB C. The Topaz is for times away with a laptop when I'm not with my usual headphone system.- sarnhelen

Cascade Headphone by Campfire Audio
I've just fallen in love with the Cascades too, after setting them aside for some time. The bugger ear cups, a Lavricable silver cable, were a good start, but I still found with my Sony DAP that I had to do drastic EQing to avoid the bass overwhelming everything. But i now have found the perfect...- sarnhelen

Woo Audio WA11 Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV
Quick update in case anyone read this and shuddered. Fiddling with the dreaded Mac MIDI setup, turning on Do Not Disturb, upsampling to DSD and I'm getting something that's blossoming (there is definitely a burn-in effect). With any luck the Audirvana major update in two days' time will help...- sarnhelen

Woo Audio WA11 Review / Preview - Head-Fi TV
Received my Topaz a couple of days ago. Does the sound change with burn-in? Listening via Audirvana on Mac, using Sony MDR-Z1R phones, the sound was fairly horrible until I upsampled to DSD - pianos sounded nothing like, violin was a screaming pain. With upsampling much better, although even...- sarnhelen
