I'm kind of tempted by this, but haven't heard much about the LD I. I feel like it might be an overkill for the He-300.- Kakuz

Thanks, I didn't really do a thorough search. I always wondered whether the HM5 pads worked at all, and I'm glad they do.- Kakuz

For a second I actually thought they were from HiFiMAN. They just fit too well! I've been considering some pleather pads for the HE-300 and those might be it. How much were they?- Kakuz

You guys have some amazing setups. Here's mine coming from the humble side (and loving it so far): Quote: I tried it, and plugged it into receivers, different amps, and straight into my laptop. I liked how it improved clarity a bit, but sibilance was too much for...- Kakuz

How do these compare with the 1R, and with headphones in the $100-$150 range? I'm loving the portability and thin headband.- Kakuz

I wonder if it's similar to the HE-300 in regards to being "bassy".- Kakuz

Help, HE-300's alternative choice, below $200
How long in terms of days? 2 or 3. How long should you bend the headband for? Just two short extensions per listening session.- Kakuz

Help, HE-300's alternative choice, below $200
I had a similar issue at first. The headphones became too painful to wear. Have you followed the recommendation in the manual? (see image). I did this every time I wore them for a couple of days, and now the headphones have fully adapted to my head, and I can wear them for hours (even...- Kakuz

Help, HE-300's alternative choice, below $200
In which way does it hurt? Do the cups push too hard on your ears? Or is it the sound itself that gives you a headache (some people get headaches with high treble)?- Kakuz

I meant OP, but I always like to hear what people listen to with their headphones, so it works!- Kakuz

Reply to review by 'kakuz' on item 'HiFiMAN HE-300'
@BadMoose : Thanks! Unfortunately I haven't tried the HE-400, but I've heard the bass extension is better on those. I guess I would recommend the HE-400 over these by default and by sheer general criticisms, but there's also a $150 price difference, so it's somewhat natural for it to be that...- Kakuz

Review by 'Kakuz' on item 'HiFiMAN HE-300'
Introduction? I got the HE-300 for $150 without knowing what I was really getting. I was on the verge of purchasing the HD 598 instead, but my life needed some unknowing excitement…I guess. Packaging A cardboard box. That’s all you need to know. The first revisions came with a...- Kakuz

Best open over-ear headphone for $250?
The only problem is that both headphones are beyond his budget (even if it's by $50). You also have the HE-300, which produce very enjoyable bass and are great all rounders. You're right, though... deep bass is better served from closed dynamics at that price point. To the OP, unless you...- Kakuz

Hifiman HE-300 mod removes the dark sound
I agree. My setup is very simple compared to yours, running the modded HE-300 through a FiiO E07K, but I also ended up fatigued after 30-60 mins of use. I did like some aspects of it, like the perception of a wider soundstage and a tad more clarity, but the harshness gave me headaches. I...- Kakuz

Looking for an amp and/or DAC for my HE-300
I ended up getting the E07K due to a sudden budget cut, but you're right, I do prioritize portability. Not too concerned about the sheer power, but it looks like it's a respectable DAC as well. Thanks!- Kakuz

Looking for an amp and/or DAC for my HE-300
Hello hello, I've been enjoying my HE-300 for a month now, but it's my understanding that they do benefit from amplification regardless of their easy to drive nature. Most importantly, I feel that a DAC would be mandatory, since I can hear a slight and obnoxious hizzing sound coming from my...- Kakuz
