No wonder, the engineers designed them to use a filter of a certain shape, volume, and reverberative qualities. By using them without a filter you may be inducing distortion and bad reverberation that'll taint the sound of the se846.  

I am not necessarily wowed by them, but i just realized I've been listening for over and hour, they are supremely comfortable too, though somewhat large. the bass is so good, but doesn't take the stage over treble and mids. Needless to say I am very impressed.

Fedex guy dropped mine off 15 minutes ago, just got done unwrapping them and I'm listening to probably my 10th song through them. I have always heard people thought BA iems sound too analytical and not as dynamic, but compared to my hd650 and ie80, the dynamics are eons ahead.

Have my se846 arriving later today! can't barely wait

for my line out i use a usb for DAC thats built into the e7, so if possible i would like an amp/dac, i guess i should have mentioned that before. If I'm in the car or airplane, i would really rather not have to lug around an amp and a separate dac.

That ep4000 seems a bit overkill to use with 2 500 rms watt speakers, would the ep2000 be better

We just got all four of these speakers, we could return 2 of them pretty easily if it would just be overkill to find an amp that would work for them

I only plan on having stereo sound, I'm not sure if you could power 2 speakers out of 1 set of terminals, but I'd imagine that wouldn't be a good idea.

Ok, so a big speaker amp will work the same as my Fiio, I just have to have the music playing with my LOD. I have an apple 30 pin LOD, could I get a lightning to 30 pin adapter, would that work for LOD, because on ios 6, it wouldn't work.

It is a cerwin vega cv1800, we have 4 cerwin vega xls 215 speakers, you can look them up if you are unfamiliar, they are all cerwin vega equipment.
