Does the E7 lose the bass boost functionality when it is connected docked to the e9?

I've never really heard of Sansa before but the seem to have a large fan base here and a lot of people use them. Just wondering why that is.

The idea of building a tube amp is very appealing to me but I don't really know where to start. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction in terms of an amp kit for beginners that isn't too expensive.
