Hifigo responsiveness
Has anyone got experience communicating with Hifigo? I've contacted them several times with questions about products but not heard back. I know they have a good reputation, but their lack of responsiveness makes me reluctant to do business with them.- Stuff Jones

Favorite/best DAC/Amp dongles
I've had a couple of LH GOs and the Lotoo Paw S1. The GOs have plenty of power but have that sabre "glare"/brightness/sheen. The S1 has nice tone, but is underpowered to me, lacking deep bass and dynamics. Other suggestions?- Stuff Jones

TOTL-ish balanced IEM with the most realistic timbre?
I'm a timbre-head. Acoustic instruments sounding like they do in real life is the most important sonic characteristic for me. From my experience, top of the line IEMs do very poorly with timbre because they use BAs which offer terrible timbre. Currently I have the OG Solaris which with the DD...- Stuff Jones

Best dynamic driver IEMs?
While the BA flagships enjoy advantage speed, frequency response and separation I still don't think they can touch the timbre, dynamics and sheer visceralness of DDs. There are also coherency advantages with single drivers vs multi drivers. However it seems like all the higher end DDs are a...- Stuff Jones

Earbud usage
I have the VE Zen earbuds which sound very good, as advertised. However there are so few situations when they are practical. There's no isolation so using them in public places is out. In ones home or office you don't need portability so why not go for full size headphones? I guess if you don't...- Stuff Jones

Femto clocks - SQ upgrade?
I'm looking at a few DAPs (Aune M2 and Soundaware Esther) that offer the option to pay extra for a femto clock. Is there a consensus on whether these make a significant audible difference on SQ?- Stuff Jones

The SQ limit of recording equipment
In the race towards higher and higher hifi, I wonder to what extent are the gains on the consumer side limited by recording technology. Have innovations in recording equipment kept up with those in consumer listening equipment? It seems unlikely given the larger and more competitive consumer...- Stuff Jones

Best sound under 200 USD?
I'm looking to replace my Shozy Alien, which I lost. I haven't kept up with DAPs as I've been very happy with the Alien. Is there a smallish DAP that generally works and sounds excellent under 200 USD?- Stuff Jones

Which IEMs do you use on the go?
Wondering what IEMs people here use when they're walking around, commuting or travelling. For those uses, isolation and fit, as well as durability and/or low cost might take precedence over sound quality up to a point. Most recently I've been using the TDK IE800 out and about. Its not...- Stuff Jones

Searchable user rankings
I think a great feature for this site would be searchable user rankings of audio equipment. People who write reviews of equipment can be asked to rank built quality, bass, mids, highs, soundstage, etc and then people looking for new equipment could search those rankings to find options matching...- Stuff Jones

Best balanced sound signature IEMs built to last under 200
I do a lot of travelling and and am looking for some IEMs to take with me that I don't have to worry will break on me. So I've been trying to sell a pair of k545s for over a month with now luck. I've never made a trade on the forum before an therefore have no reputation points. Mad Dog 3.2s vs ZMF Carbon rejack
Both of these models go for $299 (ZMFs for $319 if you add the nicer pads). Anyone know these two mods and know what might be the difference between them? I like the idea of hte rejacking because I've heard the original Fostex jack isn't that sturdy, but besides that I don't really have any idea...- Stuff Jones

Why are high end portables generally poorly made?
I've been searching for my "end game" pair of portable headphones and have come across story after story about build quality problems among the top models. Do different pads make a noticible difference in sound quality?
I've read some people who suggest that the righ pads can make significant improvements in SQ. Is this true? I've got the Koss DJ100s, which are a great bargain but I've got upgrade-itis. I can't justify new headphones so I'm thinking about new pads instead. Any suggestions?- Stuff Jones

Looking to "compactify" my home audio setup
Right now I'm running PC (FLAC) to Music Streamer II to Yamaha Ax-596 to BW-602 speakers. However I'm thinking of getting a more portable setup, skipping the amp all together and going with smaller active speakers. I might sell that stuff, buy a Fiio X5 (DAC feature) when it becomes available...- Stuff Jones
