    AKG K702 65th Anniversary Edition

If you are looking for an improvement in sound quality you might try upgrading the headphone plug on the cable. I did that on my AKG 701 and got a noticeable worthwhile improvement in sound quality . I suggest using a Furutech single ended headphone plug. You will not regret it and the...

    K701 thread

I suppose you could replace the standard connector on the k 712 as well with the standard furutech brass headphone plug. I have upgraded the cable on my K 712 to the silver dragon cable from moon audio. I still have the stock cable that came with my K712. The plug upgrade would probably be even...

It is not an adaptor. It is the standard sized jack plug. The standard jack plug has to replaced by the Furutech standard brass plug they sell. It makes a very noticeable improvement in the sound of the akg 701s.

Being a former Akg 701 fan ( my headphone band on my Akg 701 literally wore out after probably close to 10 years of use). I moved up to the Akg 712 now. I would like to suggest something that really improved the sound quality of the 701 very noticeably. I suggest that 701 owners upgrade the...

Burson Conductor 3 Performance & Conductor 3X Performance

Myself I used to have Burson conductor 3 ref. Being a fan of Burson products for many years. I still have my HA160. When I bought the conductor 3 ref there was something that bothered me about its sound. I compared it to my ha-160 and found that I preferred the sound on the HA-160. I heard a...

That is a valid point. But I like what the 712s bring to the game. I have yet to find a headphone that suits my listening preferences. But I suspect he might have similar tastes since he likes the soundstage performance of the headphone. I use to have AKG 701s which if anything are a bit harder...

Actually, I have found the akg 712 to be overall a better sounding headphone than some much more expensive headphones. Price does not guarantee performance.

Yes, they definitely have great soundstage. I suggest you upgrade the stock cable on the 712s I opted for the moon audio Silver Dragon Cable on mine and the difference was anything but subtle. The 712s with the Silver Dragon cable is much better resolved. If you liked the Akg 712s with the stock...

Do AC connectors really make this big differences?

I just recently bought the best Oyaide iec plugs and had a harmonic tech ac-10 cable that had furutech connectorrs on it. The basic iec connector and the 2nd one up their line on the cable. I had the plugs changed to the Oyaide plugs and was blown away bye the improvement in sound quality. The...

I presently have pair of AKG 712s with a moon audio silver dragon cable with the furutech Carbon Fiber headphone plug. I used to have Austrian AKG K701 but I literally wore them out after having them a long time the headband completely disintegrated after thousands of hours of use. Might I...

The AKG K712 Pro Support and Impressions Thread

I have a Soloist I picked up off Ebay a few months ago and use it with the AKG 712s using the moon audio silver dragon headphone cable with the Furutech carbon fiber 1/4 inch plug and really enjoyed it. Initially I compared it to my old reliable Burson 160 OG headphone amp with a Hifi Tuning...

    Rogue Audio RH-5 Impression Thread

I have HiFI tuning supreme fuse in my RH-5. It made a very noticeable difference that is for sure. I have been a proponent for fuse upgrades for a long time. I have yet come across any piece of equipment that I have changed fuses where there was not a worthwhile improvement. For one the noise...

I use to have a Burson Conductor ref 3 but I found it to have a signature to it that I associated to the electronic switching power supply. I found that my older Burson Ha-160 sounded better and had a more analog like sound. I traded the conductor ref 3 in on a Sonnett Morpheus...

    Burson or Schiit amplifier?

I recently purchased a soloist 160 from ebay. I have had a burson 160 since it first came out. On my 160 I upgraded the fuse to a silver hifi tuning fuse, So my initial comparison was the 160 with a hifi tuning supreme silver fuse. I can see why some people would prefer the 160 with the hifi...

Comment by 'buson160man' in item 'Burson Audio Soloist Amp'

Well I upgraded the 3 amp fast blow fuse with a hifi tuning supreme fuse on the soloist and got a pretty nice bump in performance. Most if not all my reservations concerning its performance have just been ameliorated. The amps sound tightened up considerably and the treble is much more alive...

I just picked up a soloist 160 off ebay. I have had a burson ha 160 for a long time and after a jaunt down the soloist 3x path found it to be not quite the amp that they claimed it to be (there was a definite signature that came from the switching power supply that burson adapted that was not on...

Headphones are great, but will never be speakers...

Headphones are great. Speakers may be more physical sounding. But in my experience no loudspeaker can reveal extremely low level detail like a really good headphone. My Akg 712s are probably more speaker like than a lot of headphones. My previous Akg 701s were kind of like that too before They...

How do you like your Panasonic ub9000 4k player. I am loving mine . Of course I upgraded the power cord and interconnects in my set up. Along with using a set of Isoacoustic isolation pucks. Rogue Audio RH-5 Impression Thread

Well I have been making changes in my set up. Partly because the drawer mechanism on my Yamaha CD-2200 cd player has developed issues. I was using the player as a transport for my Schiit Bifrost 2 dac feeding the Rogue Rh-5 on balanced interconnects. I fairly recently upgraded the balanced...

As I had mentioned change the headphone plug on the 701. The effort is definitely worth it. The sound smooths out a bit and the bass improves. Change the stock plug for the Furutech 1/4 inch brass plug.
