Non-PC Source for USB Dac?
Debating between a used netbook or a tablet. Benefit of the netbook is larger storage and even the ability to simply transfer an external HD from my main PC to it when updating music. Tablet is obviously nicer looking and smaller. Hmmm... Not sure if there's anything I'm overlooking, but...- Wirbel

Non-PC Source for USB Dac?
OK, currently I have my amp & USB dac set up next to my PC but I am moving this weekend. I will be putting my PC in my bedroom and I will be buying a shelving unit for my audio hardware and a nice chair for listening, which will all be placed in the living room. I do not have a laptop so...- Wirbel

Quote: I've been in a few of the betas over the last year and am enjoying the open beta so far. Although I thought TL2 was fantastic, I love that POE brings back the dark, gritty atmosphere of Diablo. So far, POE exceeds expectations and is everything D3 should have been.- Wirbel

La Figaro 339
My 339 showed up last week but with some cosmetic damage. I'm not sure if this occurred during shipping or because of shifts in temperature, but there are a few areas where black paint has chipped off the unit (without me touching it). A little annoyed that the paint chips so easily, but I've...- Wirbel

HE-500 or PS500 - Primarily for Metal
Yup, basically feel the same. The treble on the HE-500 is phenomenal in terms of quality, even if its presentation differs from the Grado sound signature. So far the 339 is a great pair but I'm still breaking it in. Can/will post thoughts after more listening sessions.- Wirbel

HE-500 or PS500 - Primarily for Metal
HE-500, and I don't regret that decision at all. I've done comparisons between the 225i and HE-500 and I don't feel like I'm losing much by dropping the 'Grado sound'. Obviously the HE-500 is a much more expensive headphone, but I find it does metal just fine. Especially since I listen to...- Wirbel

Quote: Yup, been playing it on and off since release. D3 is much better now compared to its release, but TL2 is still a much better game. For some reason, I just have FUN playing TL2 each time I load up a game.- Wirbel

La Figaro 339
Pulled the trigger on the MS2+ because I think its reviews seem to indicate it will work well with my music tastes. Plus, price-performance value will allow me to spend more money (sooner) on quality cables and tubes :) DAC should be here tomorrow, 339 hopefully by the end of next week.- Wirbel

I've also been looking at the D100 II DAC, but it somewhat stretches my budget and it would be a shame to pass up the MS2+ deal (about $50 cheaper than I usually see it). Any feedback on D100 with 339? Would it be worth the extra ~$140?- Wirbel

Thanks for the input. Knowing that the 339 can improve greatly with tube rolling (perhaps improving its detail?) is also exciting. Should have both in my possession sometime next week (Chinese shipping on holiday for a week or something :( )- Wirbel

La Figaro 339
That is what I've read recently and the main reason I'm leaning towards it, especially at the price I've found it. Would come to nearly $100 less than a Lyr. Will pull trigger tomorrow if no one else chimes in by then. Thanks.- Wirbel

Quote: Around the price of II+ / Bifrost. Probably $400 max, though I'd love to keep it lower. Found a Canadian store selling the HRT II+ for $370 with taxes and shipping so seems like a good deal. I've heard the 339/HRT pair is great, but just wondering if there is anything...- Wirbel

My new 339 with be shipped from China within the next week or two :) Any recommendations for DAC? I've recently been using a Xonar Essence STX so I'm looking to pick up a new DAC to pair with the 339. I've heard good things about the HRT II+ and Bitfrost, but I'm not sure if one is a...- Wirbel

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.
I've had my HE-500's for about 5 months now and love them. Unfortunately, I've been using an Essence STX to power them but am about ready to finally buy a real amp. I've had my eye on the La Figaro 339 for quite a while now and I've heard the synergy is fantastic. I listen to a lot of...- Wirbel
