The 5CU4 is a great tube low voltage drop high current. Most amps can't use it but yours can. A bit hard to find though. Glenn

5CU4 is a great rectifier tube for the OTL but draws over 3amps filament current might overheat the transformer in other amps.

I will get that amp back to you. My problem now is I am to feeble to pick the amp up in the box. I will make no more amps with 3 transformers and a couple of chokes just to heavy now. Glenn

That should work no connection to the screen grid. Just remember that it has CCS set for the EL3N with LED bias on the cathode. Try it can't heart try it see how it sounds.

Tuff wire to work with I use it at work to feed power and signals to sensors. High power frequency drives with a 480 volt 50amp square wave to a motor puts out plenty of noise. No noise pickup with 1039A double shielded cable.

The 10Y>300B sounds great had them for 16 years now. But I don't think I would make this direct coupled amp for anyone as the B+ voltage is 850

The EL3N is a really good sounding tube also. But to really use it in a spud amp really needs a input transformer to boost the input signal to get a decent output.

Not that unreasonable I paid allot more then that for 300Bs. Might have to do something about that cathode resistor bypass capacitor and get it out of there. My direct coupled 300B amp has no capacitors at all in the signal path except for the last capacitor in the power supply. That is a hard...

Why not just use the recommended transformer and forget about parafeed leave out that capacitor no capacitor really sounds good.
