Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10 Thread
Fellow stubborn, stuck on TF10s in 2021, my second pair the left iem has cracked. Of course I will just glue it back. What I want to know if it’s worth reshelling my final pair and if so where to do it? I‘m in the US, NYC area.- lessblue

Sony NW-A40 Series NW-A45/A46/A47
I purchased a Samsung 128GB Evo+ microsd. I noticed the database takes some time to build on powerup. Also adding soon s to a playlist takes some time. Would there be an advantage to buying a higher performing card, sandisk pro extreme, delkin, lexar...which have read speeds that are twice as...- lessblue

Sony NW-A40 Series NW-A45/A46/A47
I've been using a Sony NWZ-X1000 since it came out in 2009! Bought a used replacement after the first ones screen stopped working. The second NWZ-X1000 is still working. Ive been looking for a compact mp3 player with a touchscreen interface with good sound quality for some time. Just took the...- lessblue

owned Swans M200 forever, what's a good upgrade?
I've had that EMU 0404 for 10 years as well:) I'm looking into the LSR305 some more, seem pretty good. but once they were described as being brash, I'd prefer the music to be more in the middle ground rather than the background or foreground in terms of listening experience. Thanks for the... -
owned Swans M200 forever, what's a good upgrade?
Ah, I see. The Swans have a single amp rated at 15Wx2 RMS (5 ohms, 1Khz, THD85dB). I'm reading up on the ribbon tweeter in the AirMotiv. The JBL LSR305 is liked but some say it is more bright than warm. I have an EMU USB 0404 external USB sound device I use as a DAC. -
owned Swans M200 forever, what's a good upgrade?
Thank you for the suggestion, I'm going to read up on the Emotiva monitors. I wonder how much of an upgrade they might be from the Swans M200. I'm hoping for the most musical speakers I can get but without a sub, just a 2.0 pair. I know bass will be sacrificed to a certain a degree. -
owned Swans M200 forever, what's a good upgrade?
Hi all, I've owned the original Swans M200 desktop speakers for almost 10 years. They, along with my JBL L112's have served as my main music listening speakers. They still work fine but I was wondering what would be an actual upgrade to the Swans. Active speakers that I would use for music...- lessblue

DX90. 2X Sabre,1st page: Downloads, info&inst. . ! Lurker0 FW Mod link 1st page !!. .NEW FW! 2.3.0 . . . . .
Has the song dropout/cutout bug been fixed? I personally am bewildered that anyone would put up with that. It's nice that clinically the sound quality is great, but the point being the music and the overall listening experience. My understanding is that once you fill up a storage card a good...- lessblue

Couple of questions for owners. What's your experience been in regards to how long it takes to scan a 64GB/128GB card after you've filled 50-75% of the card and then add new music/albums? If you use dual cards, will it have to scan both even though you've only added to one card? Seeking...- lessblue

Budget RCA Plugs (Connectors)
Thanks cyberspyder, those look like good budget Neutriks. Specs say it takes cable with O.D.≤ 7 mm which is wide enough for the Mogami and Canare (6mm) I mentioned. I'm deciding between those and the amphenol connectors (can't pin down the cable diameter for these though) which seem to be...- lessblue

Budget RCA Plugs (Connectors)
...have an O.D. of 0.236" (6.00mm) which is too large for the Switchcraft plugs. Switchcraft Straight RCA Plugs ($2-$3) Neutrik/REAN NYS373-* Specifically (O.D. 4-6mm which is a little small for the Canare/Mogami I think) Amphenol ACPR* Canare F09 F10 Furutech FP-162 (~$6-$7)...- lessblue

Fancy Neutrik NF2CB/2 RCA connectors (Ground before signal)
I'm going to make my own RCA interconnect for my Squeezebox Touch which will connect to a vintage Yamaha integrated amp which is connected to some vintage JBL L112 speakers. I've seen these Neutrik NF2CB/2 connectors which are on the expensive side. The big deal being: Makes ground...- lessblue

24-bit vs 16-bit at a common sample rate - difference?
Ah, so 24 bit may have its place when it comes to capturing the analog out. After capturing and any click/pop removal, then converting to 16 bits would mean no audible difference between 24 bits at that point I take it. Meaning there really is no audible advantage for 24 bit playback.- lessblue

24-bit audio a con, according to Gizmodo
Meant to post in this thread. So folks who rip their old/new vinyl records and then "resample and dither to 24/96" are mostly just wasting space? Meaning they could have ripped to redbook 16bit/44.1kHz and it would pretty much sound the same?- lessblue

Sony Sound (Is it better than Apple's?)
I enjoy the sound from my Sony X1061 and while I have some gripes about my Sony, which actually have grown over time, none have to do with sound quality really. Gripes: I hate the fact that the player resets the libray after connecting to add songs (PC/W7). Occasionally the library...- lessblue
