From ultra open to closed, suggestions?
So I finally gave in and went to a store to give a listen. I took a 36hr+ break from my main rig to get used to 'inferior' sound before auditioning. Well, there was little need. Denon D9200 and Focal Elegia both sound very wonderfully bright and excellent headphones. Closed cans sure have come...- progo

Oh yes, Focal Elegia could be something. Thanks for recommendation. Stellia falls outside my immediate budget :)- progo

From ultra open to closed, suggestions?
T5p ... yes. This is one can I have access to, can give a listen. Have you by chance listened to Ultrasone Editions 7, 8? Supposedly they're very good at isolation. It's funny many reviews say that AFC isolate very well and T5p on the other hand is only adequate. I suspect it's not that simple...- progo

From ultra open to closed, suggestions?
Wandering around, seems like Mr Speakers AEON Flow Closed is a perfect match. Bass is not overpowered, decent isolation, great highs. Will be reading more about these. Of course, no local distribution for these either. But they're half of the price of the Ultrasones that I previously was...- progo

From ultra open to closed, suggestions?
...great dynamics, all that. But the ultra openness presents difficulties at times, as most of you probably know very well. Big factors I need: * as said, decent isolation from occasional outside noise * great highs and upper mids. I don't want that typical closed-can rolloff * bass mustn't...- progo

Yeah, I think it's one of the few IEMs being worthy of even being mentioned in the same context as K1000. But let's not derail this topic :-)- progo

Wonderful news. :) I've had my K1000s for almost a decade now, as my daily drivers. Nothing else has piqued my interest and there are only very small improvements I could wish of them. I'm certain MySphere would satisfy me to no end but fate is as cruel as can be, with the ultra open...- progo

Great (state-of-the-art) IEM setup for home environment?
I think I'll study current custom offerings with a close eye. The amps don't have to be portable although I suspect there are reasons why there are no 10 feet extension cords for IEMs. ;) It's heaven. Unlike normal cans, with K1000 the music seems to materialize out of nowhere. It has been...- progo

Great (state-of-the-art) IEM setup for home environment?
Hello everyone. Looking all-arounder IEM setup for music and movies. I would prefer best possible isolation and good comfort for multi-hour sessions. Source: a Linux machine. DAC: I have one (Electrocompaniet ECD-1 which is on the warmer side) but new ones can be suggested. Wireless...- progo

Thanks but I really could use a one-box solution. Otherwise I'll stick with the current set until I have buffer for the F1/F2. The Electrocompaniet is taking some space so that counts as well.- progo

Thinking of downsizing a little. Do you know / have heard any integrated (dac, amp) solutions that drive K1000 well? It all sparked when I spotted a Peachtree Audio Nova on sale, but it isn't a good companion with the K1000, I undestood. On the other hand, First Watts are fairly cheap and well...- progo

Are you satisfied yet? (aka: The David Mahler appreciation poll.)
My current system is quite decent and it has been stable for about a year now. Financial priorities have finally kicked in... :) But in the long run I do want to climb towards a top notch system. And have a good turntable for which I don't have the space until I move to a bigger apartment. So...- progo

Thank you :) I'm not into all metal, but ABSOLUTELY if there's a vocoder present! :D -
Great albums with vocoder!
I almost forgot to show my "reference" song, what I thought of when starting this thread. Beautiful song with the vocoder! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-EdGnoZUpI (Theatre of Tragedy - Motion) [don't know how to embed the video here :(] -
YOUR favourite high-end headphones to get lost in the music and forget about equipment???
The K1000 is amazingly economical in this sense. Even with the cheapest used amplifier gets you around the world. :) I do nothing but get lost in music when I put the K1000s on.- progo

Great albums with vocoder!
Ow man. Forgot about Kraftwerks pioneer status. Although I haven't heard the Robots before. Robots is such a classy presentation on the subject :) Laurie Anderson sounds excellent as well. Oh god, so many good records to find. All these three songs sounded particularly excellent. Can be because... -
Great albums with vocoder!
I always get the same thrill when listening to Theatre of Tragedy - Assembly. Particularly the song Motion at the end. The same happens with Mike Oldfield's Five Miles Out. I seem to have a weak spot at vocoder'd vocals. :o What albums there are that sport a healthy dose of vocoders?
