Review: Fischer Audio's DBA-02
I don't really use the CMOY much with the DBAs, but I use the gain on the T3 with the DBAs, sometimes. But I will check out the bass boost on the DBAs and see if I like it or not. The DBAs are fine bass-wise for me, but they are very EQable.- slaters70

JH Audio JH5pro thread
Definitely interested, and in no hurry. I love the Fischer Audio DBA-02 universals ($160), more than all the top-tier IEMs I have owned, and that's alot, but I figured the only way I will go on the $400+ spending spree again is with customs. Your comments caught my eye (your original JH5...- slaters70

Westone 2 True-Fit IEM Appreciation & Impressions Thread...
Well, here in the US the W2 is considerably more than the PFEs. But I owned both, and they are very different. I felt the PFEs performed best with an amp, but with the new green filters (bass boost), that may no longer be an issue. I would say the PFEs are excellent, and the W2s not worth the...- slaters70

Okay, now I am intrigued. I am thinking of JH5s, but want to hear your views on the 13s since you both have and love the 5s. I thought you said the difference was minimal pizzafilms.- slaters70

Review: Fischer Audio's DBA-02
Yes, I had the Sony X with the DBAs, but ended up selling the X because I thought it was overpriced and liked the Cowon J3 more. Now, I no longer have the J3, but borrowed a friend's A818 and the DBAs do sound very good with the Sony warmth (and if the bass isn't enough for you, a single click...- slaters70

UM56 pics, Small Ears much....
I have UM56s tips, black Otoblast (will post photos) but strangely enough, while I had them made for the UM3Xs when I had them, they never were very comfy with this phones, and it's because the driver body bumped my ears (no longer fit snug inside my ear cavity. Same when I used the UM56s with...- slaters70

Review: Fischer Audio's DBA-02
T3 works well, but I also picked up a $79 CMOY mint tin on ebay (JDS Labs is the manufacturer/seller) and it has a nice bass boost switch and sounds very very good for the money. Of course, it's clunky compared to the T3, but glad to have both. Quote:- slaters70

ACS Custom molding in NYC and little known facts about ACS with Etymotic
Talking custom sleeves via ACS for Etys (it's available via Ety). I would be interested in reshelling the DBAs too, but it seems a bit risky. I had hard acrylic done with my TF10s at Fisher and they came out very nice. My only issue was I used an old pair of custom sleeves (scanned by Fisher)...- slaters70

Ety MC5
I have some here, and they fit. I can try them on the HF-2s later, if you want. I have the short ones, or the thin ones, can't remember. But they will fit on the Ety nozzles, but now sure of the sound.- slaters70

Ety MC5
You mean the Shure olives? I don't think they have very large openings, so they should not effect the treble, in terms of making it more pronounced. In fact, with the narrow Ety sound tube, no tips will have really wide openings, compared to canalphones/dynamics, for example. I am not sure, but...- slaters70

ACS Custom molding in NYC and little known facts about ACS with Etymotic
The Westone UM56s are also soft silicone (the ones I have, called Otoblast) and they are an excellent match with my HF-2s.- slaters70

JVC/Victor FX700 - The Successor (early Easter Bunny brought something very nice!)
"More impact for the CK10s, but more "body and texturing" for the DBAs." Interesting distinction by Joker on the bass differences. And yes, the DBAs respond very well to EQ. I have in my possession a Sony A818, a friend's (he bought it from me), and I was listening to the DBAs with it last...- slaters70

JVC/Victor FX700 - The Successor (early Easter Bunny brought something very nice!)
The DBAs deliver somewhat more bass than the Etys, but both can be EQ'd a tad if needed, as you already know with the Etys. But even without EQ, the DBA bass is not deficient, just not overpowering. And agree, that freq graph chart has little credibility (as do most charts and graphs in my...- slaters70

Ety MC5
Beat me Anaxilus. What he said. And here's my less scientific view. Also can't agree that tips don't change sound. The circumference of the sound tube, for example, can alter treble response (larger the tube, the more treble emphasis). I have the HF-2s now (replaced the MC5s) and they...- slaters70

FX700 or DBA-02?
Neither James or dfkt have heard the DBAs ... yet. But based on what I have read, I would agree with your assessment of the difference between the DBAs and the FX-700. Quote:- slaters70

FX700 or DBA-02?
The DBAs are not bright, if by bright you mean borderline harsh or sibilant. They are balanced, and by that I mean (and so do others who own the DBAs) that not one of the three main frequency bands is dominant. Again, I direct you to reviews by Joker and LFF if you have not already read them on...- slaters70

Review: Fischer Audio's DBA-02
Quote: None of us DBA "fanboys" really care if you personally like the DBAs or not. Of course, I hope you do. But I think I can speak for LFF, Tony, and a few other owners who find them to be not only a steal price-wise but also comparable to (or better than) so-called top-tier IEMs. I...- slaters70

Westone UM3X Thread
Welcome. I would contact Earphonesolutions and ask for a swap before you even open the packages. They should be happy to do it, and get it all straightened out. You send back the hardwired UM3X and fit kit at your expense, they ship you the new UM3X. As long as no boxes are opened, what's the...- slaters70

The secret scam of cheap earbuds
Ho-hum. I would gladly let the Gizmodo writer listen to the Cyclone PR1 Pros or PR300s (have both) and tell me they are a ripoff (both cost me $50 or under). Same with the pair of Earsquake SHA ($20) I got recently as a review sample. It sounds perfectly fine for what it is, hardly a ripoff. And...- slaters70
