Maybe, maybe not. I bought mine used and am not sure how used they were but I hear the same thing. Surprising they'd be shouty on tubes Listing did say "barely used". I wonder what people think in regards to dynamic driver break in. I've experienced it with my Bifrost 2/64 and perhaps some...

I've noticed the shout too but only with one specific song in my library featuring a female vocalist. I think they're perfect with the amount of treble energy however. I used to have an Echo and was debating grabbing another but if a cheap Wa6 pops up again I'll grab that instead to save some...

    Schiit Lyr+ : Impressions Thread

I ordered mine from Viva tubes I never got to hear the stock tung sol. I bought a Psvane UK6SN7 and upgraded to the CV-181 which is certainly worth the price over the UK. Bit of warmth, detailed but not too bright. Spacious, holographic

    Schiit Lyr+ : Impressions Thread

From what I've gathered hybrid tube amps won't sound very tubey. That said I put the Psvane CV181-T mk.ii and really enjoy it

Woo Audio WA6 + WA6SE: Tubes, Comments, Pictures, and Advice

I'm looking to snatch a Gen 1 off classifieds since they're pretty damn cheap it seems though rare (just missed the two that were posted recently) I've read reports about the Wa6 being quite dark up top and while I would like to tame the treble from my 660s2 just a tad Im mostly wanting those...

Describing something as neutral just means you're not going to get any coloration from the piece of equipment. It depends on what you're after For example when I had the Bifrost 2 it was a nice warm DAC with my Jot 2. When I added it to my tube amp at the time it was just way too warm for me...

I'm leaning towards the Wa6 right now. It's pretty cheap on classifieds and should serve as a nice tube amp to get into. If I really spot a difference next to my Lyr+ I'll consider a better upgrade down the line but I'm not looking to spend a ton right now

I have been looking at tube amps but am not really willing to spend more than around $600 for one right now. I see a couple woo audio wa3 or wa6 in classifieds but am unsure if I'll like the darkened treble I keep hearing about. I have had a Feliks Audio Echo before and kinda wanna snag one...

Well guys I'm going to say it and I'm going to mean it. The 660s2 are simply one of the best cans I've ever heard. I think they're just about perfect in their tonal presentation, the dynamics are fantastic, the frequency response is excellent and these have some of the best imaging I've ever...

I did buy them off classifieds but the seller said they were barely used. But yea, first listens are usually what get me because I'm experiencing the the sound for the first time and if I like what I hear it taps into the songs I love to listen to. I have a couple vocal pieces that tend to hit...

HD 660s2 has arrived, in the middle of my first listen and oh yes they are good. I'll do some comparisons with 660s later Edit 1: They've brought tears to my eyes already and several boughts of chills. I love this feeling

So, I'm hearing the S2 plays nice with tubes? I couldn't justify grabbing a Feliks Audio Echo for the 660s but since the S2 has higher impedance I might consider it. I do enjoy the Lyr but want to see if I'd prefer the OTL and sell the one I don't prefer. 660s2 should be arriving tomorrow!

I have this issue with just about every headphone and can't wear them for long without discomfort and headaches. Comfort is my number one priority and that makes my ability to collect headphones very small. The thing is, even if they retain their stretched shape cup shape and swivels can mess up...

Just managed to snag a pair off classifieds! The 660s were my first of the 600 series, coming from the Hifiman Arya V2 as a main. While I love the V2 their sibilance was too much, and I couldn't get them to agree with my head comfort wise. In hindsight, they're also quite thin in the midrange...

    Beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO - Beyer's open-back mastering headphone

Having owned the Amiron and still using the 1990s daily. If you want a warmer, easier to listen to headphones grab something like an HD 650 or 660s over the Amiron. The Amiron manage to be warm and muddied at times while also being hot to listen to, my opinion of course. HD 6XX series is more...

Appreciate the info, sounds like it'd be right up my alley. I'll take a look at the 900 Pro X though I'm ok with the 1990s. As said they're exclusively for my keyboard/mixing purposes and they handle that really well.

So what's the consensus these days on 660s vs 660s2? The 660s have become my main headphone. The 1990s are great as an instrument headphone, but for music it's too treble hot. I sold off my Arya v2 for being sibilant and uncomfortable to wear. 660s is a good level of warmth and treble that...
