    Review of JBL LSR305

Previously, I'd had just the original 100uF 450V replaced with 220uF 450V and the fuses as well, also some original ones with extra film capacitors attaching onto them as speed-up capacitors And now just hesitating on whether doing a re-capping of the whole board of LSR305 since I'd made a...

    Review of JBL LSR305

Unfortunately, it doesn't help! So, I may just set the volume at 6 or 6.5 and leave it as is.

    Review of JBL LSR305

Thanks for your advices, GC! I think the hiss noise coming out from the tweeters is kind of thermal noise. It was said that this kind of noise cannot be completely eliminated, just only to diminish it to a very low level by using well-designed PCB accompanying high-quality transformer and...

    Review of JBL LSR305

To be frank, in my opinion, besides the improvement of the sound quality, to concentrate on how to eliminate the hiss noise coming from the tweeter(though it's inevitable, always exist in reality, and especially serious in LSR305's such cheap & low D-class amplifier board), is a more important...

So, anyone can comment on, by changing which capacitors or components on the board, will get the most obvious improvement of the sound? Thanks in advance!

First of all, I'd like to say thanks to your detailed elaborations of this monitoring speakers!   I do have a pair of LSR305, would you please circle or point out which capacitors on the photo of the board you've had replaced with metalized film capacitors? Thanks in advance!

Almi's X-Fi Mod (Hotrodding Sound Blaster X-Fi models)

@Foxer   By the way, they're still under testing in ways of different op-amps to harmony with different film capacitors at different locations of the cards.   Yes, I'll cut short the leads when they're settled down. Thanks for your advice anyhow!

Almi's X-Fi Mod (Hotrodding Sound Blaster X-Fi models)

To be frank, I know nothing about it and just put some very small value capacitors randomly onto somewhere of the card for an initial trial and error. Fortunately, the sound's not getting worse and to some extent the highs is a bit more detailed and bright.

Almi's X-Fi Mod (Hotrodding Sound Blaster X-Fi models)

Ramachandra, thanks for your advices!   Finally, more different kinds of caps arrived today. I'm going to spend some leisure on testing them with the sound cards to see whether they could generate any possible effects.

Almi's X-Fi Mod (Hotrodding Sound Blaster X-Fi models)

It's a great topic anyhow! However, what I'm going to ask is a bit out of topic. It's not anything related to X-Fi's, but Audigy 2 & Audigy 2 ZS. I'd bought them for more than 10 years and had them modded recently. Since I'll have some AVX 0.1uf 50v and 0.01uf 50v ceramic capacitors, and also...

19 custom IEM/TF10/Shure/IE8 cables reviewed (Effect Pearl, Apollo, & Odin added 3/20/13)

Quote: These cables were obtained almost directly from manufacturers, they were brandless. I guess they could be nothing or perhaps may once be any famous brands for sale on the market when they're being made and shipped in accordance with any contracts signed.   Quote: Yes, to...

19 custom IEM/TF10/Shure/IE8 cables reviewed (Effect Pearl, Apollo, & Odin added 3/20/13)

These are my recently DIY IEM cables, not a difficult task providing you've got all the materials needed. Less expensive and more choices than that of the aftermarket, but could be really time-consuming...huh!
