HiBy RS2: dual card slots, Darwin R2R, FIR, NOS, MQA 8x--news and impressions thread
I think this little DAP deserves more love. It's not going to give you the grunt needed for demanding IEMs, but with sensitive IEMs it sounds very good. Paired with the sensitive Dunu Zen Pro, it yields a very enjoyable sound with excellent, natural sounding mids. A great pairing for acoustic...- Stuff Jones

Cayin N7: A Voyager of Unexplored Frontier
I wish these kind of large transportable DAPs with mediocre battery life would include a feature so that you could listen while plugged in, without risk of damage. Listening will most likely be stationary, and having to stop listening and remember to recharge every 6 hours or so is annoying...- Stuff Jones

Reply to review by 'Stuff Jones' on item 'TGXEar Ripples'
IT would be great to compare TGX buds with non TGX buds. There's so much enthusiasm for the products that most of the comparisons seem to be with other TGX models, which is obviously a bit of a closed system. How do they compare with other high end buds, including the Moondrop Chaconne which...- Stuff Jones

Yeah I picked up a used pair recently. They're the best all 'rounder DD with solid technical chops I've heard. They lack the usual exhausting upper mids/lower treble peakinessthat I've found in other higher end DDs. Fit can be an issue though. In the end I found the stock tips worked best for me...- Stuff Jones

TGXEAR discussion thread.
Me too. I find that timbre takes on the coloration of the housing. So JVC wood IEMs and ZMF HPs convey wood instrument timbre most convincingly. Chaconne and Zen Pro do best with brass instruments. From my limited experience, plastic buds sounded a little plastic-y (but I've only used cheaper...- Stuff Jones

TGXEAR discussion thread.
I wouldn't describe the Chaconne as bright at all. I would characterize them as neutral-warm, with smooth and detailed mids and well extended treble and without deep bass. I hear zero sibilance. Basically your description of the Alpha would fit mine of the Chaconne. They are bit bass shy, and...- Stuff Jones

TGXEAR discussion thread.
As primarily a jazz, classical and world music listener, these buds sound right up my alley. Can anyone compare any of these models with the Moondrop Chaconne, which as far as I know was/is the earbud acoustic music timbre king? Also, @tgx78, what is the rationale for terminating all the buds...- Stuff Jones

Earbuds Round-Up
Just a heads up. I've been waiting a week for a response on a return request for my Chaconne from Apos Audio. Highly recommend avoiding them.- Stuff Jones

@MOONDROP - Do you have any comment on this? Has the material of the Chaconne been changed? (sent a PM and email but have not heard back).- Stuff Jones

Yeah, been trying to be responsible and all that so I've steered clear of here to avoid temptation. But I can't resist the occasional lurk... I've been listening to the Hiby RS2 + Dunu Zen Pro. There's great synergy with that pairing and it's the best I've heard the DZP by a decent margin. The...- Stuff Jones

Not sure if this is the right thread for this topic (please let me know if not), but is there a Paypal alternative? Their upcoming policy is a doozy... Link- Stuff Jones

Yeah, I meant brass. Edited my post. Frankly I don't care about the look - sounds great. But it might be a problem for a buyer since I'm trying to resell them.- Stuff Jones

I did send the pics to Apos and they said Moondrop got back to them and said its not a sign of manufacturer defect. I will contact Moondrop myself. I understand the gold maybe wearing off, but its weird to me that the bronze underneath isn;t bronze color.- Stuff Jones

Here's a pic after taking off the foams. You can see a little gold left in the middle, but the rest is silver (not brass) like the rest of the bud. I've only had them since May, and purchased them new.- Stuff Jones
