Headroom Desktop as DAC > Preamp > Amp ?

Got a pair of AKG701s, Sony SA5000s and now a pair of Senn HD650s.       Something else that interested me about the solo was that its recommended to be left on all the time.  So the caps etc dont discharge and cool down.  Wonder if this applies to other SS amps...

Headroom Desktop as DAC > Preamp > Amp ?

Your comment about the volumes intrigued me so I emailed a question to the lovely folk at headroom.  Reply clears things up nicely: This setup will work perfectly and I assure you is quite safe.  Just be sure when hooking this all up that no music is playing and your volumes are all the...

Headroom Desktop as DAC > Preamp > Amp ?

The solo doesnt have a DAC, just 2 sets of analogue ins.    So I mean when I want to use a digital signal could I use the DAC in the headroom and feed the output to the solo after the headroom has processed it etc.    So the path would be:   PC (Xonar) > Optical > Headroom DAC -...

Headroom Desktop as DAC > Preamp > Amp ?

Just a query really...   Currently using a Headroom Desktop amp/dac...  and have just bought a Graham Slee Solo SRG II.   My PC is currently feeding the Headroom via an optical, I assume I could then use the headrooms output RCAs to feed the Solo?   This would be treating the Headroom as...

Headphones for a HR Desktop amp??

Morning...   Was about to post a thread basically identical to this...  But then I found this one and realised its the same question (and possibly the same answer!), So I brought this puppy back from the dead for some up to date clarification from the legendary Headfi'ers!   [/endbuttkissing...

    SA5000 Pics

As above Iron Dreamers review on here seems pretty accurate: Headphone Reviews :: Sony MDR-SA5000 As for comfort, this is mentioned in another SA5000 thread floating about, if the cans are tilted back slightly the 2 bars supporting the mesh dont actually touch your head at all, the net...

    Sony MDR-SA5000

No idea how they compare, never heard any of the Denon range. Plus as you may be able to tell from my descriptions above, I'm not exactly musically trained to best describe the characteristics of differing cans. Was bidding on some D5000s but in the end they went for too much and I wasn't...

    Sony MDR-SA5000

Thought I would hop on this thread instead of starting a new one. Just picked up some SA5000s and loving them so far. Different sound characteristic to my 701s, so now I have a choice in sound type as well as music type… Quick A –Bing and prefer the new Alanis Morisette album with the...

Headphones for a HR Desktop amp??

Ah forgot about the 650s... Would like to try them, I'll defiantly try and pick a set up in the near future. Whilst looking for a set of 650s though, I picked up the Sony SA5000s. Get the impression they wont be around forever so thought I would try them before they disappeared. At least...

Headphones for a HR Desktop amp??

Hello, I have a HeadRoom Desktop amp and DAC upgraded with the Home modules powered by the DPS. Source is mainly via a Denon DVD-3910 but it’s also fed by an iRiver ihp-120 via optical and when I upgrade my PC probably that too. My main set of cans is currently the AKG701s which im fairly...

A Comprehensive Review: Denon D5000 vs Markl Modded Denon D5000

Ah, fair enough. Like I say, I wasn't 100% sure where all the material was being added, to me some must have appeared to be applied to the back of something that moved... but I'm obviously completely mistaken haha Thanks for clearing that up.
