Alien DAC v1.1 Construction Thread
My shopping list at Farnell, should it interest anyone. I make no promises as to whether this list is complete or not, or made of the best components available - I've gone for good specifications, good price, and a few different types of capacitor for CL/CR - Sanyo SH should sound nice from what...- RichA

36-38, depending on the trousers in question. I'm 6'2 and around 18 stone, though it does go up and down all by itself.- RichA

Head-Fi System Upgrade Glitch Log
Yeah. I log in, do some browsing, then part-way through it'll change from head-fi.blah to the IP address in the browser address bar. When it switches from one to the other, I then get kicked out and have to log in again. It's driving me bonkers, as I can't keep up with which posts have been...- RichA

Blu-Ray
I'm a slow-adopter of technology. I don't even have a DVD player yet . I did have one, but I took it back because it broke, and they didn't stock that model any more. so I got my cash back. There are so many formats that come and go, without having a significant impact on the market. Despite...- RichA

Wow, finally got them (HD480 mkII)
I put mine on last night and fell in love with them again. What are the differences between the 480 and the 480II? Looking over that Warzone site, I've just realised the difference between supraaural and circumaural(this isn't related to the above question, btw!) - I'd always though it would...- RichA

Gold Plated Copper - Yes, GOLD!
Aye, gold be pointless. The difference between silver and copper is so small, personally, I'd not worry about it unless the price difference was negligible. Gold is the best metal for reflecting/radiating heat, I believe? McLaren F1 engine bay, anyone? --Rich- RichA

Creative Sound Card Users: How do you have your settings configured?
Audigy2 SE / NX Both are just straight through - upsampled to 48khz by ALSA, no bass or treble fiddling... Line-out to my Sansui AU-G11X amplifier, headphones powered through the headphone socket on the amp. Loudness feature on the amp is never used on headphones, but is used at low(pre...- RichA

Why would I need one? I can set ALSA(my sound system) to resample automatically, if needed... --Rich- RichA
