    Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

I've been really enjoying the HD600's the way I have them set up. Which is with some PEQ (low bass almost up to flat, slight midbass hump flattened, 1khz-4khz area down 3db), which really helped my enjoyment of them, as well as a balanced XLR cable that gets the most out of my bryston bha-1 amp...

    Yes, about -6db.

Here's what I'm currently using for EQ. My low bass is only about flat with these settings, maybe still slightly below. You could try these settings, but maybe raise #2 from +4.5db to +6.5db or so, this might give you enough low bass. Notice that #1 is cutting the very lowest bass off. This is...

That's what I recently found out with a Bryston bha-1 and HD600's, especially with a balanced cable to get all the power available. I was skeptical after reading how much they will scale, but it's true. I've owned and listened to several clearer and more detailed headphones, but after hearing...

I have HD600's and those Sony WF-1000XM4 as well. I also listen to some metal, as well as most other genres. Those earbuds do sound good. They still have lots of detail and clarity. I use the Headphones app and use some EQ to make them sound slightly more neutral. I also use EQ with the HD600's...

Amp/source is Tidal streamed to Wiim Pro plus to bryston bha-1 and a balanced cable. I set my PEQ by looking at HD600 response graphs. Ended up having completely flat response except still 1 or 2db down on low bass instead of the stock 4 or 5db down. I also didn't raise that 3khz dip up to flat...

No bass spikes, just a 2db peak around 180hz. Starts climbing from 120hz up to 180, then back down to flat around 300.

The HD600's without EQ sound pretty good. But with a 3db boost around 30hz and tapering back to normal by 70hz, and bringing that 3khz or so peak down, is a huge improvement to me. They sound almost boring sometimes, but near perfect at the same time. Depends mostly on the recording, they can...

I don't have a bass shelf, didn't want to increase bass much further down than the 40hz peak. It's adding 3db of bass at 40hz and tapers down to flat again by 70hz. It adds some needed lower bass without adding any bloat to the mid bass.

I use a Wiim pro plus 4 band PEQ to fix the HD600 quirks/preferences. I adjusted them according to HD600 graphs, and it makes them sound amazing. One of the adjustments is a 3db peak at 40hz, not quite up to flat but a big improvement. If I had a 5th band, I'd use it cut bass off completely...

To add a little to this; My current system that I highly recommend is: Tidal hifi streamed from Samsung phone > Wiim pro plus > blue jeans rca's > bryston bha-1 > audiophile ninja balanced xlr cable(simple pure copper) > 2022 model HD600's(stock pads). Took some trial and error and "upgrades"...

I've never heard tube gear with headphones, but is supposed to be awesome with HD600's. I will if I get the chance, but with the results of my combo, along with the reliability and maintenance free aspect, I don't see myself switching.
