I recently got a pair of these. I'm a tad overwhelmed by the mids. They're very forward. I tested this mainly with Acoustic tracks by Paramore, which I remember enjoying more with my PC360.   Any suggestions?   Edit: I feel the vocals are overpowering everything else.

I'd take any below 100 bucks headphone over any Beats, based on reviews.

@Armaegis and Parall3l   He has preemptively ordered the HFi 780, and if he likes the sound but thinks he needs more bass, he'll trade for the 580.   I'll tell him to look into the M-Audio if not convinced by Ultrasone.   The Ultrasone Pro 750/900 are out of budget. Not really...

If you want to use them at the library, you will want to avoid open design headphones, such as the Sennheiser HD 555.   I wouldn't recommend the HD 448 really. If you want an awesome sounding cheap, comfortable, pair of headphones, get the Creative Aurvana Live.
