Marshall Mid Bluetooth headphones
Build seems pretty good to me. They feel nice quality, the arms and hinges are all steel and feel pretty robust they are as good as anything else I've had in this price range. The headband and earpads are faux leather, the latter are removable with a twist so can be replaced. There is no...- eggontoast

Marshall Mid Bluetooth headphones
I picked a pair of these up the other day and so far I'm pretty impressed with the build and the sound quality. Nicely balanced and clear and for on ears they have quite good isolation too. The little jog wheel is a nice touch too, it's good to have something to hold onto rather than these...- eggontoast

REVIEW: HLLY DMK-IV DAC / headphone amp / pre-amp)
Quote: I think you already know the answer to this. It has been confirmed by Fidelity Audio that their DAC-150 is a slightly revised version of HLLY's DMK-IV and that HLLY manufacture the DAC-150.- eggontoast

Request Grado Modders Help Please.
Quote: Why don't you try some of the less intrusive mods first such as different pads etc, these can provide subtle changes to the sound signature of the Grado's. I found the mod where you wrap black electrical tape around the outsides of the bowls gave my RS2i's a better bottom end...- eggontoast

What specifically makes grado good/better than everything else for metal
There not, it is just some people's opinion and opinions vary. I personally can't stand listening to Metal or Rock through them.- eggontoast

The Stax thread (New)
I am currently running a pair of SR404 Signatures from an SRM-3 and overall I am very happy with the setup but I have a niggle feeling that the SRM-3 is letting the side down. Would I hear some vast improvements in upgrading the energizer if so any recommendations on which is a good match for...- eggontoast

STAX confusion
After listening and comparing the Lambda Nova Classics and the SR-303's I personally prefer the SR-303's. The LNC's are too mid orientated, the SR-303's seem more balanced across the frequency range but even these are slightly mid orientated. I have recently acquired a pair of SR-404's and...- eggontoast

STAX confusion
Thanks for the info & link I now have a better understanding of what Lambdas there have been. I guess the way forward is long listening sessions to decide which ones to keep.... How terrible.- eggontoast

STAX confusion
I currently have a pair of SR-303 classic earspeakers and a SRX-pro energiser. I just purchased another lambda nova classics with an srm-3 energiser as I wanted to upgrade from the SRX-pro to the SRM-3. I assumed that these two earspeakers were the same but one has a red surround around the...- eggontoast

Calling All "Vintage" Integrated/Receiver Owners
Quote: Cheers for the thumbs up. Love these first Fluoroscan amplifiers, it took me a while to find one as you don't get to many over here in the UK. When I found it it was covered in dust and grime but no damage, it was missing knobs but was fully working albeit a trifle crackly...- eggontoast

Calling All "Vintage" Integrated/Receiver Owners
What a great thread, nice to see a bit of interest in the vintage gear here on Head-Fi There is some really nice gear listed on the thread. Here is my vintage stack comprising of a Pioneer SA-7800, RG-2, SR-303 and a DT510. Please excuse the image quality it was taken on my iPhone.- eggontoast

Stax Lambda primer for electrostat newbies
Is it really lol. I know this is a how long is a piece of string question but, which energiser would you suggest for the SR-303's which would yield good performance for a reasonable price ?- eggontoast

Stax Lambda primer for electrostat newbies
Not quite sure how I missed this thread but what a coincidence as I have just brought a pair of SR-303 earspeakers with a SRD-X pro energiser. I have been listening to them all day and I am really impressed. They have a good soundstage, excellent sparkly treble that is not fatiguing and a...- eggontoast
