When you turn the volume knob clockwise it should increase. Mine doesn't necessarily click, but you do feel a little bit of resistance between volume units. In other words, it just doesn't turn freely.

A silicon stick on rubber dot is what I use. Looks good and works great. I also use it on the back of the unit on all four corners for added protection when it is laid down on a surface.

The SD card will only go in one way, and that's with the metal strips facing upwards. You will have to use your finger nail to push the card in all the way, and then it will lock in place.
