Well as I mentioned it is transparent with no roll off, which is what you want when you have built in PEQ capabilities.
E.g. this the frequency response:
Some of the measurements show a slight roll off of treble > 15K but all bass measurements were 'flat'.
You can add bass with EQ if you want more bass. As for quality, the THX headphone amp is superb, I have listened to older versions of a few other devices and I have no complaints with them or with this device as far as bass quality.
With a flat response like this you can easily do some interestingly with EQ, e.g. you can set the EQ to more easily transform your Headphone Frequency response using a Squig.link measurements.
No, it does not change the treble response of your headphones so there will be no treble harshness unless your headphone has some treble harshness already maybe like a Beyerdynamic??
Well depending on how good your hearing is - it might be the Filters you have selected.
i.e. this screen in the Audio configuration section of the review:
Most FiiO devices now have these filters as configurable so it can be worth experimenting with these to find one that doesn't affect the upper treble region.
