Aune S17 pro
The Mjolnir 3 is a highly vented class A amp and some have stated it that it can take 2-3 hours to sound its best. This is why I speculate that the decision for less ventilation on the S17 pro might have been intentional. When working as designed it appears to remain at a stable temperature in...- DP42

Aune S17 pro
I am thinking the closed design of the enclosure was intentional, it likely brings the temperature up quicker so you don't have to wait so long for the class A to sound its best. Adding a fan with temperature control would have increased cost, as would side fins. As it were, most people are...- DP42

Aune S17 pro
S17 Pro vs V222. I spent about 3 hours this AM comparing the two, and my initial impressions are similar to previous reviewers. The S17 Pro reminds me of the MJ3 with a beautiful tone and weight to the notes, the music flows, sounds rise and fall with elasticity and weight. The sub bass is...- DP42

Aune S17 pro
So, you now like the S17 pro with the HE1000? I thought you previously posted an issue with highs being cut off on the HE1000 with this amp. Did the amp improve over time, or is it just working well with certain genres? I recently purchased the V222 which has great slam, but lacking a bit...- DP42

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
So, I went ahead and got the V222. I am hearing a significant step up in performance compared to the G111 MK2 while using the E3 (1/4inch on the G111 and XLR on the V222). CD60 as the source running BF2/64 thru Lokius using snake oil XLR cables (same chain for the comparison). The V222 has...- DP42

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
Anyone tried V222 vs MJ3 on the E3? Using BF2/64 as the DAC. Looking for the least fatigue and spacious presentation. My concern is the V222 will be bright/forward like the G111 MK2.- DP42

Schiit Mjolnir 3 - Impressions Thread
Run the MJ3 a week, make sure it has been playing for at least a couple of hours prior to listening, then re-assess - I am actually curious about a critical comparison of the MJ3 to PM. I am CD60->BF2/64->Lokius->MJ3->E3 (XLR), and have experienced some of the best listening in my life, but...- DP42

Schiit Mjolnir 3 - Impressions Thread
I can vouch for MJ3 as a pre-amp, so much better than the internal pre-amp in my Model 30. Not just improvement in dynamics, but gives notes a sweetness that invokes emotion. Like small plucks on guitar stings have feeling, playing the same track without the MJ3 and the magic is gone. Not...- DP42

I did A/B (with and without) testing with isoacoustic pucks under my speakers. Could be placebo, but I swear they sound less muddy with the pucks.- DP42

Schiit Lokius Impressions & Reviews
Lokius FTW! Held out since previous experience with equalizers never did it for me. Got a Lokius recently to use primarily for balanced to RCA conversion, but sure makes thin bright 80's recordings sound better. Just add a little bass and turn down the upper mids, click active vs non-active...- DP42

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
Well, I have several other pairs of headphones, but none in this price category. A/B with Audeze LCD-2C shows the 2C to be more lush and emotional on some tracks, but then it is very inferior for clarity and distortion compared to the E3. I also own the Hifiman OG Ananda, again there is...- DP42

Campfire - Solaris
I just did a quick A/B, ie600 vs Solaris 2020. Not even close, the Solaris is waaaay better for me. Listening to Dave Gahan Tomorrow track, there is better separation and weight on everything from vocals down to Sub bass. The IE600 has plenty of bass but it doesn't have as good separation...- DP42

High End Cables Thread (digital, analog, power)
My limited experience with cables and footers: 1) Speaker Cable - Audioquest X2 vs Mogami 3082, the Mogami definitely sounded worse, there was some kind of high frequency noise / harshness, stuck with Audioquest 2) RCA Cable - I have a set of Hero's, Beldens, Audioquest, and Snake Oil. Have...- DP42

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
I would say it took me about 3 weeks, ~1-2 hrs a day, demoing many different genre to finally discover how awesome the E3 are. Going back to my LCD-2C now makes me sad, those were my first nirvana headphone, but my brain wants E3 for everything now.- DP42

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
I can't speak for the Mojo2, but the E3 are capable of doing things with some albums/tracks that I have never experienced before. I am running CD60->BF2/64->MJ3->E3 on balanced cables, and am finding that this setup can take recordings and show you all the little tricks that have been done in...- DP42

Campfire - Solaris
That is strange, I find my Solaris 2020 to have plenty of bass. For me it is a big step up in sound quality compared to IE600. The best part about the Solaris is that well staged music actually sounds outside the head, it is a very convincing illusion.- DP42

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
Yeah, I was cross shopping several $2K models before getting the E3. HE1000se and LCD-3 were on the list. I would love to have a sample from every brand :L3000:. I based my decision on the recent hype train, I believe it paid off. DMS made a good point in a video awhile back, we can get...- DP42

I was so excited when I got my shipping notice, I waited about 2 months (pre-ordered). Then I listened to the amp, oh wow, it is a good amp, took my LCD-2C to a new level. I betcha your LCD-5 will be like a new headphone for you as well.- DP42

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
I am enjoying my E3's the longer I own them, there is no denying the quality and clarity of the sound. As Nomax stated, comparing back to back shows you what these headphones deliver. They cover all frequencies from top to bottom with balance, the vocals are good, sub bass is good, high end is...- DP42
